Death rating math question

Post by Moonsong » Mon Jan 04, 2021 7:23 am

Hello,

The rules state that Adepts add their circle to their death rating along with their durability. My question is: is it additive, or cumulative?

Death rating increase by circle
ex: 1st circle (durability) +1
2nd circle (durability) +2
3rd circle (durability) +3

Or is it always (durability) +1 each circle?

Thank you,

Moon

I'm not 100% sure how to phrase this best, so I'll just do an example of the progression.

suppose you have a starting unconsciousness rating of 26 and a death rating of 32 (so basically, toughness of 13).

at circle 1 with durability 5, you would have an unconsciousness rating of 26 (base) + 5 (durability 5 * circle 1) = 31, and a death rating of 32 (base) + 5 (durability 5 * circle 1) + 1 (circle) = 38

at circle 2 with durability 5, you would have an unconsciousness rating of 26 (base) + 10 (durability 5 * circle 2) = 36, and a death rating of 32 (base) + 10 (durability 5 * circle 2) + 2 (circle) = 44

at circle 3 with durability 5, you would have an unconsciousness rating of 26 (base) + 15 (durability 5 * circle 3) = 41, and a death rating of 32 (base) + 15 (durability 5 * circle 3) + 3 (circle) = 50

It's cumulative then :)

You are (with your example durability of 5) adding 6 points each time, VS adding 6 for 1st circle (5+1), 7 for 2nd circle (5+2), 8 for 3rd (5+3) etc.

Thank you very much for the clarification.

if you didn't add 6 each time, you'd eventually die before you go unconscious.... so yes.

The OP was asking if it was 5+1, 5+2, 5+3, 5+4, etc. (as opposed to the correct 5+1, 5+1, 5+1, 5+1...)

You should have written it like this in the first place:

suppose you have a starting unconsciousness rating of 26 and a death rating of 32 (so basically, toughness of 13).

at circle 1 with durability 5, you would have an unconsciousness rating of 26 (base) + 5 (durability 5 * circle 1) = 31, and a death rating of 32 (base) + 6 (durability (5+1) * circle 1) = 38

at circle 2 with durability 5, you would have an unconsciousness rating of 26 (base) + 10 (durability 5 * circle 2) = 36, and a death rating of 32 (base) + 12 (durability (5+1) * circle 2) = 44

at circle 3 with durability 5, you would have an unconsciousness rating of 26 (base) + 15 (durability 5 * circle 3) = 41, and a death rating of 32 (base) + 18 (durability (5+1) * circle 3) = 50
