LFG: Meet Maratha
GM: Dvarim
ECR: 5
Difficulty: Medium

Rumor: Maratha Fort, in Lake Vors, has opened its gates. The fort/kaer weathered the Scourge successfully and has sent emissaries to the Wyrm (Blood) Wood, Syrtis, and Throal. The residents of the fort did not expect to emerge into a world still so dangerous, and the fort did take damage during the Scourge. They request aid in acquiring materials for repairs.

Notes:
- Adventure runs at 7:00pm EST on Tuesday, March 16th
- As always, I run groups of 5 players.

Summary:
Fort Maratha is open and the PCs traveled with Ikthgild Emdger and have made contact with its leaders as well as with the various emissaries who have gathered there:
Maratha: Ho'hono Maratha (Lahala), Shi'javi Maratha (Castellan)
Lake Vors: Kalist Renvari (male elf)
Syrtis: Ngogo Pahaia Syrtis (Captain/Boatman), Opahu Pahaia Syrtis (male, 1st mate)
Blood Wood: Feralia Panathis, Nemathin Ordolia

The Adepts also traveled to the villages on the south shore of Lake Vors (Narpi, Tandavoor, Ordui, and Halpi) and discovered strange birds that emulate the moans of the wounded to hypnotize prey, a patch of animate entangling weeds, and so-called 'hungerfish' which lack any organs and make you hungrier the more you eat them.

Finally, they would dearly like to find and investigate the Troubadour, Anirvi Shruti (likely a pseudonym).

You are reading the writings of Truck, windling warrior.

I, and a select few other adepts, was invited to a small gathering at the townhouse of Baron Ikthgild Emdger. His townhouse was luxurious and his livered servants impressive. He was given a diplomatic mission to a Nial (Maratha Fort) in Lake Vors for which he requires an escort. We quickly agreed to terms.

On the appointed day we met him and boarded one of his 2 large carriages bulled by thundra beasts. The journey to Sossanopa was uneventful. There we joined the Syrtis delegation to Faratha Fort The fire-engine boat was the Moonrunner, captained by the head of delegation Ngogo Pahaia Syrtis. There were also T'Skrang children under the supervision of a very impressive Opahu Pahaia Syrtis. The fire ship made excellent time, and before long we were in Lake Ban and approaching a pier. Our delegation was greeted by dignitaries from the nail, Ho'hono Maratha, Elementalist and Shij'avi Maratha, a legendary Archer and "keeper of the fort". There was also a delegation from the Blood Wood, Two Blood Elves: Nemathin Ordolia + Feralia Panathis. Another elf, Kalist Renvari represented the settlers of the non-T'Skrang races that are settling the banks of the lake and river. I had a very nice conversation with the last. He told me of some recently opened kears: Elf Kaer (Exodus), Ork Kaer (Tarnath)   Settling Villages Narpi, Tandavoor, Ordui, and Halpi.

There was a very lovely feast. During it several of us noticed that a particular T'Skrang Troubadour: Anirvi Shruti was subtly using Emotion Song to shape impressions, one time she was influencing the Maratha leader to feel that independence was better when she was talking to the Syrtis lead delegate.

Baron Emdger asked us to survey an area for Shij'avi. Check on some reported settlements and some old quarries. We went to the southern bank of the lake and started checking on settlements. The first few hamlets had no problems, but Narpi reported problems with strangely behaving crocodiles. One had recently raided a barn that was miles from the water (!) We tracked it from the barn to its home swamp. We were attacked by large, unusually hungry Jungle Crocodiles. I sliced one open and it's stomach was filled to overflowing with small white fish. The fish, if sliced open, had no guts or organs of any sort. Astrally their patterns were bizarre, the patterns looked like an incomplete idea of a fish. We discovered that anything that ate the fish became ravenously hungry, such that they would eat until they burst. They were clearly magical and unnatural, and we named them Hungerfish. Back at the village we found a teenager suffering from having eaten a Hungerfish and we helped cure him.

Over the course of the rest of the week we visited several other villages and solved some more problems. Also among the things we found is that a T'Skrang Troubidore, probably the same one we found causing trouble in the fort itself has also been sowing discord in the nearby settlements.

I was sent a message from a Throal Baron named Ikthgild Emdger. His townhouse was in the best part of Throal and was very luxurious and impressive. Unfortunately I found Ikhtgild less impressive. He has been tasked to head a diplomatic delegation to Nial, Maratha fort and he wants some adepts as escorts on the journey. The other adepts on this trip are Dale, Truck, Strata and Calina.

Our journey to Sossanopa was quick and once there we boarded the Moonrunner a fire-engine boat captained by Ngogo Pahaia Syrtis. The journey to the Nail was quick and pleasant on the Moonrunner. Once we arrived at Maratha we were greeted by the diplomats of the Nail along with other representatives from the Bloodwood and from the smaller local villages around the Lake Vors. I spent some time talking with Feralia Panathis about her experience with defending the Bloodwood and any dangers unique to the area.

While I was talking with Feralia some of my companions noticed a strange mood overcoming the party. Apparently a T'Skrang Troubadour, Anirvi Shruti was influencing the party's mood by her playing. Once we noticed what was going on she silently slipped out. I wonder what she was doing here and why she would want to influence the diplomats.

After the end of the diplomatic dinner we were asked to make a tour of the local villages along the Lake Vors shore. Most of the hamlets and villages had no issues to report but Narpi told us of crocodiles that were behaving oddly. One crocodile entered the village and eat a couple of goats and kept looking for more food. We tracked the crocodile back to a small inlet which was sheltered from the main lake. While we were exploring the inlet a very large crocodile attack the party and swallowed Truck whole. Strata and myself started to beat on the crocodile and knocking it unconscious.

While we were distracted by the first crocodile a second attacked Dale in the back. I quickly turned to attack this new crocodile and it tried to take my leg off which I'm very attached to. While we were defending ourselves from this second crocodile two more crocodiles started to eat the first unconscious. After we defeated the second crocodile we backed up and started to investigate the area to see what could be causing their strange behavior. After examining the crocodiles stomachs we noticed that they all had eaten many of the local silver fish. Well these fish aren't normal and their pattern is odd which we deduce might be the cause of the ravenous hunger of these crocodiles.

After we destroyed what spawns of unhatched eggs we returned to the village. Once there one of the local boys had eaten one of these silver fish earlier and was suffering from an unending hunger. We induced him to vomit up his stomach and once the fish were no longer in his system he started to feel better.

We continued on to some other villages that had some other minor issues. One place had a field of animated weeds along with some strange birds who moaned instead of a normal bird noise which made the villagers believe that the field was haunted by ghosts. The next village we came across was arguing with their neighbor over a swampy field with a large rock in the center. They had been told by a wandering T'Skrang Troubadour that the rock was protecting a buried treasure. We investigated and discovered that the rock was a snail creature which consumed it's food/prey when anything touched it's sticky hide.

Once we finished our visits we returned to Maratha and a successful diplomatic journey. Throal now has new neighbors to trade with and Lake Vors seems like a new frontier for namegivers.

BONUS Activity: I suggested to the party we should encourage the snail to the hunger fish pool as we couldn't find a way to safely remove the hunger fish from the pool. The snails unique digestive process should make it safe to "eat" the fish and prevent anyone else from eating the cursed fish. We first started to use chicken to entice the snail to move the way we wanted it to, but it's a snail so it was slow going. We then borrowed a wagon and enticed the snail up onto the wagon and kept it happy and feed on our journey. For our safety as much as anything. Once at the pool we had Calina write warning signs in every language she knows and dumped the snail into the middle of the pool and hope that the fish will brush up against it and be consumed safely. Writing the warning signs might of been the only time Calina had a smile on her face the entire time we were visiting the villages.
