Earthdawn Media Inspirations
Some aspects of the old TV shows Hercules and Xena (especially the latter) have a bit of an Earthdawn-ish vibe to me.

Re: Earthdawn Media Inspirations
I think that the 1E books were definitely a "new take on Appendix N" from oD&D. Aside from those sources, the ones that jump out at me the most are:
Elric of Melniboné & other Michael Morcock (Therans)
Conan stories (various authors)
Barsoom (John Carter on Mars stories)
Lots of Moebius (Jean Girau) art
Lovecraft & associated art
It would be worth collecting the names of the Earthdawn published artists, as most of them have samples of their work online as well.
Maybe even an "Art of Earthdawn" book? I would be down for helping with that.

Yes please.
I can even see the title: Earthdawn - The Art of Legend
Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

The movie Congo. Plus or minus the murderous apes.
Re: Earthdawn Media Inspirations
I read a book once, called Dark Universe iirc.
Recommend it to anyone.

Re: Earthdawn Media Inspirations
Just watched a Japanese anime movie from 1992 called The Weathering Continent. Possibly the closest we'll ever get to an Earthdawn anime.
Before the dawn of history, on a dying continent (meant to be Atlantis), three travelers accidentally find the ruins of Azec Sistra, a great city from a lost golden age, now a dark and creepy necropolis. Things go sour when they encounter a gang of tomb raiders looking for the city's treasure...
The plot of the movie could pretty much be translated into an Earthdawn adventure. Put Azec Sistra in the Badlands and that's it.
