This is a challenge rating 3rd circle, you guys. If you want to use it against Journeyman adepts, you'll need to change it quite a bit.

Variegated Flying Snake

The Variegated Flying Snake can be found wherever there is adequate tree canopy and the climate is mild. They are larger than the normal so-called flying snake by quite a bit, up to 3 yards in length, but share the ability to fling themselves out of a tree or off a cliff, flatten their bodies, and glide through the air. They are also aggressive, and will feed on anything smaller than a horse.
Like all snakes, they are incapable of biting off chunks of flesh. Unlike other snakes, however, they do not need to be able to swallow their prey whole. Instead, once their venom has reduced their prey to unconsciousness, they spit digestive acids at their prey. Then they lap up the dissolved tissue to their heart's content. Because of this method of feeding, they eat much more often than other snakes.
While they can spray their acid at any time, they typically only use it to break down helpless victims, or as a defensive reaction when they flee a more fearsome opponent. When used on active combatants, they tend to flail around, ruining the meal.
A typical encounter with these deadly snakes involves half-dozen or more gliding silently out of the air and grabbing and biting their intended meals. One story tells of a group of adventurers scaling a cliffside in search of a lost temple of Astendar. The rocks erupted with Variegated Flying Snakes. Overwhelmed, the would-be adventurers suffered several envenomed bites. As they dropped unconscious from the cliff, the snakes glided to the ground to feed on their broken bodies. Only the Thief lived to tell the tale.
