Contacting a kaer

I was wanting to have my players find an uncontacted, unopened kaer, and was wondering what details have been given about how people would contact the people inside, what rituals were in the book of tomorrow, and the like. All I can find is that the book of tomorrow does give methods, but not what they're like.

I like the idea of there being a ritual in the BoT because the spells require a pretty high circle wizard. If they’re an GMC then you have to juggle keeping them from hogging the spotlight but still having them be be believable journeyman adepts.

In Ardanyan's Revenge there is kaon'ma. Magical device mounted on kaer doors to contact the inhabitans.

I had an adventure with a blood charm that generated prime numbers. It was issued to adventurers that left the kaer temporarily. If they were clear of corruption, it would generate a 5-digit prime number that could be entered into a massive stone combination lock that would open a small passage back into the kaer.
