Throal

Hello.

I've gone through the Throal book and there is still a few details that eludes me, specifically about the (physical) size of it.

First, for clarity purposes, when I refer to 'the map', I mean the Throal map at page 98 of the Third Edition Throal book.

1- Does anybody know if there is canon data on how far the Mines are from the Gates?
  • The book seems to imply that people from the Dahnat are working daily in the Mines and/or Crystal Greenhouses which would mean that the distance is 'walkable' on a daily basis.
but
  • When looking at the relative size of the inner cities that would mean that they walk the equivalent of about 6-8 'inner cities' both ways, every day.
I also seem to remember that the 'introduction quest' to the game module 'Burning Desires' was to escort something from Bartertown and Oshane and that it took a couple of days at least (of juts walking).

2- I'm a bit unsure of the difference of colors (light grey versus deep-grey) of the map between the 'south' and 'north' of it. I originally though that it meant that the light-grey area was the original kaer while the deep-grey had only been excavated later once they begun the creation of the inner cities but then... the Greenhouses and the Mines are WAY past that zone and existed before/during the Scourge so that would mean this area 'existed' at that time too (minus the inner cities) so are the passages in the 'deep-grey' area also part of the Halls of Throal (i.e. inhabited) or are they just mostly empty road linking the inner cities?

Any thoughts?

I'd guess they work shifts. Meaning they work and sleep in the mines for lets say a week and then change shift with other people while they have a week free to go home. Something like that ^^
