+1 for each additional target

Post by Ferretmonger » Wed Feb 12, 2020 5:25 pm

The Battle Bellow (talent) says:
The targets must be within the adept’s Battle Bellow rank x10 yards. The adept makes a Battle Bellow test against the highest Social Defense among the target group, +1 for each additional target.
Does
+1 for each additional target
mean that I get to choose how many additional targets I want to affect, or do I have to affect all characters in the target "group", and in that case, what defines a group?

That has been the subject of some debate. Do what makes sense for you.

Yes. One can wonderfully create arguments for either allowing „cherry picking“ targeting or not.

It does not matter too much as your opponents can do the same.

The consensis answer is... Who knows? Pick an option and apply it consistently.

Ah,. I tried searching for it but the algorithm couldn't find it, or thought it had to many "common" words.

Thanks!

I would rule that its the whole group, as the saying goes, "there is safety in numbers."

If there's too big of a group, I guess you have to use shout intead

Going by that definition, you would also always have to count in all friendly players in range. At some point this becomes not feasible. I'd not allow picking individual targets out of a group. An idea could be to make it "cone-shaped".

Best would probably be to talk to your players and come up with a ruling/compromise that works for everyone at your table.

The adept issues a great bellow, inspiring his allies and intimidating his enemies. The targets must be within the adept’s Battle Bellow rank x10 yards.
So it's only the enemies that count against the TN.

How do you get that?
Battle Bellow test against the highest Social Defense among the target group, +1 for
each additional target.
If he targets 3 allys and the highest SD is 10, the other 2 add to a total of 12.

If the table comes up with the ruling of allowing the player to buff himself, then he also adds a +1 to the TN.
