Small question about levelling up

4ED, Weaponsmith, circle 8: The adept get +3 to his mystic defense.
Does it mean I add an other +3 to my total or I now get a + 3 instead of a +2?

You now have a +3 instead of a +2.
Player's Guide, page 86, under "Characteristics Bonuses": "Only the highest bonus applies to a given Defense Rating."

And just in advance: Having multiple disciplines granting the same bonus, it won't stack either.
Only the highest bonus is applied aswell.
