Splintershade (IH/Research 1+3+5; Rank 4 Thread woven; Forged 9 @ 2020-12-19)
Maximum Threads: 2
Mystic Defense: 12
Legend Point Cost: Journeyman

This slender flight dagger has no guard and virtually no handle, only the briefest of tang to hold in the wielder’s fingers. The craftsmanship places the center of mass directly in the middle of the blade. Other than the thin line of spidery runes running down the blade, nothing seems notable. Until a thread is attached.
With a thread attached, how light reflects from the blade in unnatural ways immediately sets this dagger apart. Anyone looking into the highly polished blade may notice it shows multiple reflections, similar to a mirror, however no are exactly the same. The reflections may be in a different pose, different lighting, shows a different emotion on the viewers face, etc. Shadows cast from the dagger are similar, but show the dagger in different shapes and positions. As though the shadows and reflections represent the infinite possibilities of what could be.
Spoiler:

Thread Rank One
Key Knowledge: The owner must learn the dagger’s Name.
Effect: The flight dagger is now Damage Step 3.

Thread Rank Two
Effect: The flight dagger is now Damage Step 4.

Thread Rank Three
Key Knowledge: The owner must learn the meaning of the runes.
Effect: The wielder gains the Splintershade ability, As a Free action for 1 Strain, the dagger appears to split into multiple different versions of itself when thrown at a target, making it difficult to avoid. The wielder gains +2 to the Attack test.

Thread Rank Four
Effect: When the wielder uses Splintershade, some of the illusions begin to inflict real damage. The wielder gains +2 to the Damage test.

Thread Rank Five
Key Knowledge
: The owner must learn what the tooth used to fashion the dagger came from.
Effect: When the wielder uses Splintershade, the daggers arc from unexpected directions. This makes it more difficult to anticipate them for those who are otherwise distracted. The wielder can use Surprise Strike against Harried targets.

Thread Rank Six
Effect
: When the wielder uses Splintershade, the wielder can use the following special maneuver:

Splintershade (Wielder, Throwing Weapons): The wielder can spend two additional successes on an Attack test with Splintershade, causing some of the illusionary blades to imbed around the target or circle around them, distracting them with different visions and possibilities. The target is Harried until the end of the round.
Jet Mantle (IH/Research 1+3+5; Rank 6 Thread woven. Forged +11PA 2020-12-19)
Maximum Threads: 2
Mystic Defense: 12
Legend Point Cost: Journeyman

This long coat is fashioned from black espagra scales. The scales shine brilliantly, giving the appearance of an oil slick of color where the light hits. White trim completes the high collar, long sleeves, and hem that goes to the wearer’s shins. This style of coat was popular in Shosara long ago.
Without a thread, it functions as an espagra scale cloak. Once a thread is attached, the dimensions are perfectly fitted to the wearer and silvery runes appear along the trim.

Spoiler:

Thread Rank One
Key Knowledge
: The owner must learn the armor’s Name.
Effect: The armor is Physical Armor 4.

Thread Rank Two
Effect
: The armor is Mystic Armor 2.

Thread Rank Three
Key Knowledge
: The owner must learn where the espagra hide was harvested for the armor.
Effect: The armor is Physical Armor 5.

Thread Rank Four
Effect
: The armor is Mystic Armor 3.

Thread Rank Five
Key Knowledge
: The owner must learn who created the armor.
Effect: The wearer gains the Jet Mantle ability. As a Free action for 1 Strain, the runes glow brightly and the wearer is outlined in sharp, silver light until the end of the round. They gain +2 to their Initiative test. This must be used before Initiative is determined.

Thread Rank Six
Effect
: When the wearer uses Jet Mantle, blackness stains the wearer’s hands and seeps out of them. They gain a bonus Step 3/D4 to their next Damage test against an opponent with lower Initiative as darkness envelopes their weapon. The wearer must be using a weapon.
Cold Calculations (IH/Research 1+3+5; Rank 6 Thread woven)
Maximum Threads: 1
Mystic Defense: 12
Legend Point Cost: Journeyman

This black vest is woven from silk of unearthly smoothness. The fibers are always ice cold to the touch, even as they seem to be strong as iron. Close examination of the shiny fabric reveals small symbols, runes and glyphs along the front panels, giving it a slightly textured look even as the craftsmanship means they don’t stand out, only reflect what little light they do slightly differently. A row of elegant silver buttons tarnished with the patina of time round out the front. The back panel is dominated by a stylized, angular spider in thread which absorbs all light. But otherwise unadorned.

When a thread is woven to the vest, it resizes itself to perfectly fit the wearer. Aside from the tarnished buttons (which only make it look distinguished), the vest is never disheveled or out of place. It’s the perfect fashion for any situation, whether dominating trade negotiations, or laying in wait for prey.

Spoiler:

Thread Rank One
Key Knowledge
: The owner must learn the vest’s Name.
Effect: The wearer gains +1 to their Physical Armor.

Thread Rank Two
Effect
: The wearer gains +1 Circle to a Discipline of their choice for the purpose of determining Durability.

Thread Rank Three
Key Knowledge
: The owner must learn the creator’s Name.
Effect: The wearer gains +1 to their Mystic Armor.

Thread Rank Four
Effect
: The wearer gains +2 Circles to a Discipline of their choice for the purpose of determining Durability.

Thread Rank Five
Key Knowledge
: The owner must learn the bound spirit’s Name. [Szazi]
Effect: The wearer gains the Cold Calculations ability. As a Free action for 2 Strain before Initiative is determined, the wearer runs their fingers along the vest’s buttons, making a particular symbol, and feels a chill run through their body. They become detached from the world around them, seeing it without feelings, only the moving pieces laid before them. The wearer gains +2 to one of the following until the end of the round: Initiative, Physical Defense, Mystic Defense, or Social Defense. Each selection has a different symbol the wearer makes along the buttons associated with it.

Thread Rank Six
Effect
: The bonus from Cold Calculations is now +3.
Audrey’s Armguard (IH 1+3; Research 1; Rank 2 Thread woven)
Maximum Threads: 2
Mystic Defense: 12
Legend Point Cost: Journeyman

This slightly oversized vambrace positions a highly polished metal plate slightly above the forearm. The rolled edges of the plate are a matte black, while the center of the plate is adorned with a design of black thorned vines spiraling out from the middle.

Once a thread is tied to the vambrace, it acts as a buckler shield (+1 PD +0 MD 0 Init Penalty). While the size does not physically change, it feels bigger.

As threads are tied to the shield, black thorny vines can be seen emerging from the shield when perceived astrally, these vines can be seen deflecting blows and grabbing hold of things that fly near it.

Spoiler:
Thread Rank One
Key Knowledge:
The owner must learn the item’s Name.
Effect: The shield provides +1 Mystic Defense.

Thread Rank Two
Effect:
The shield grants a +1 bonus to actions to remain undetected or unnoticed

Thread Rank Three
Key Knowledge:
Must learn the name of the plant on the shield (Ebony Acacia)
Effect: The shield provides +2 Physical Defense total.

Thread Rank Four
Effect:
The shield now provides +2 Mystic Defense total.

Thread Rank Five
Key Knowledge:
Must learn where the Ebony Acacia planted within the vambrace originates (A near Netherrealm filled with exotic plants)
Effect: Before initiative is rolled, the player may spend 1 strain to gain +1 to all Avoid Blow tests for the round and gains the Mystical Black Hole maneuver as the astral vines pull missiles into the center of the Shield being eaten by the shield. The missile is destroyed(unless it is a Thread Item).
Mystical Black Hole(Adept, Ranged, Avoid Blow) When attacked by a ranged weapon, the adept may spend extra successes from Avoid Blow to gain a +1 bonus per success to the next Shadow Blades test they make before the end of next turn. These are cumulative over several tests.

Thread Rank Six
Effect:
The shield provides +3 Mystic Defense total.
News from the Underground:
Spoiler:
Brief Backstory:
Descendant of pre-Scourge Theran abolitionists who moved to Throal. One of his ancestors was actually a contributing architect and signatory of the Council Compact. Family fortunes declined slowly over the Scourge - nothing insidious, just bad luck, a few unwise investments. Also lost touch with the old progressive ideology that once defined them as, instead, they focused on more pragmatic matters. Juniper is a young subversive, enemy of oppression, vigilante, at least in his own mind. He works for a low-rent local broadsheet called NEWS FROM THE UNDERGROUND.
