LFG: [9M] The Serpent Rises
Time: 2021-04-22 @ 2300 GMT (7PM EST)
GM: Pub
Difficulty: 9M
Rumor Source: Bloodbeat (Anoush)
Rumor: Recently, when infiltrating Gerri van Drake’s operations, Bloodbeat and her companions fought a fearsome snake in a cave beneath the Coil River. The resemblance to some of the myths and legends of the Serpent River intrigued Bloobeat. So she’s been studying these legends in the Great Library. Furthermore, she traveled to Sosonopa, Syrtis and other towns along the Serpent, asking about the locals’ knowledge of the old legends.
To her surprise, she learned that in the last few weeks — since the serpent beneath the Coil River was vanquished — that there’s been trouble along the Serpent River. Ships have been disappearing between Sosonopa and Syrtis. Other ships have been thrown up onto rocks, badly damaged, lives and cargo lost. The t’skrang aropagoi in the region report that the tides and waves have been surprisingly high and violent of late, too. No explanation or connection has been found.
These disasters and changes are causing lots of trouble with shipping and transportation. Alternate routes and higher crew costs are raising prices on trade goods.
Locals speak worriedly about how the Great Dragon that rules the Serpent River is awakening and causing these troubles. Some shudderingly speculate that sacrifices are needed to appease him, perhaps some kind of blood magic.
If not for her recent adventures, Bloodbeat would consider these just old folk tales, but not any more. So she’s gathering a group to investigate and find out just what’s causing the problem.
The Slavers Come Home to Roost on the Soaring Espagra
Location: Places along the Serpent
Alt Reward: None predetermined
Note: 3-5 Players

Name: Zivilyn
ECR: 10
Last Played: April 20
Discipline: Shaman/Wizard/Elementalist/Nethermancer 8/7/6/5
Notable Abilities: Spells, a little bit of everything at this point. Good with animals. Only *mostly* incompetent at social stuff. Also, I can give you gills.
Downtime: Downtime: Animal Training (Talent) - Step 20 including karma (Rank 10) (can train up to 10 commands total, or improve non-combat skills by +1 per command used on it)
Research - Step 28 including karma (Rank 8). +3 to the step is available at a cost of 20 sp for access to the Great Library of Throal.
Item History - Step 20 including karma (Rank 8)
Design Enchanting Pattern - Step 21
Create Blood Charm - Step 21 (for the moment, you'll need to supply your *own* patterns)
(it is definitely looking like I won't be C11 before this adventure, but in the event that I get my 10H in for illusionist access, I won't be able to go any more).

Summary:
In actuality, the party tracked down a kraken and led a group of leviathan dragons and drakes to its lair to combat the entire... pod? School? The entire lot of them.
Unfortunately, the Dragons also erased their memory, so the party has no memory of the battle, the dragons, the kraken, or even that there was an issue occurring on the Serpent. They were informed of the problems occurring on the Serpent River upon return to Lake Ban. They drifted into Lake Ban on a makeshift raft with a bag full of gold and silver. Some of the party also had strips of Kraken skin and meat in their possession.
Furthermore, Drakes posing as Namegivers have begun to spread word that the dangers along the Serpent have been resolved. Trade returns to normal.

Bloodbeat had gathered us to investigate a problem. We were a fine collection of weapons. Elisen and his menagerie, Zivilyn, and a new Windling friend, the Beastmaster/Warrior/Windmaster Nez and his companion Sagarmatha.
We set off, I think. I suspect we may have encountered Juniper and some new recreational experience. That seems the most likely explanation, but he denies it.
Over the course of the next couple of weeks, we did something, I could feel the burn in my muscles that indicated we have been in a fight, and the surge told me we had won. Based upon us waking on a raft coming down the Serpent into Lake Ban, I suspect we may have encountered slavers and taught them the error of their ways, and one of the 'celebratory' items caused the group of us to loose our memory .
The burn and surge in my body tells me how well we fought, and the sense of pride I had in my companions tells me that this Nez is another well forged weapon. I look forward to confirming that in a battle that I can recollect and tell great stories about.
