LFG: [11M] The Lab in High Castle

Rumor: There is the public expansion of Throal - the diaspora of its people and the reclaiming of surrounding lands. But, since the end of the Scourge, there has also been a secret project conducted by the King, the Eye of Throal, and his top magical advisors. Five elemental labs were set up, places to do secret research to understand the impact of the Scourge, and the nature of current magic. These labs are closely guarded state secrets. But one of those labs - the Air lab known only as High Castle - has gone dark. King Varulus gathers some of the most famous and trusted Adepts to find out who, or what, has happened to the lab.

Four of the five namegivers who have accidentally sent their spirits to the Realm of Air have been safely returned. The plot of a dragon possessing empty bodies to infiltrate Throal has been discovered, but one of the bodies is still empty. High Castle has created numerous advances in the use of True Air to include liquid lightning and the ability to transport the living to the Realm of Air. The latter discovery has been abandoned due to safety concerns and the former has no known practical value as of yet. Experimentation will continue at High Castle, but an expert in Elementalism will be on site to prevent further issues.

One thing about having been active in the community for quite some time: those in authority sometimes end up coming to you for help. The Throalic government approached Jael about checking in on a research team that the gov't had lost contact with. Jael asked myself, Dvarim, & Daldorer answered the call and off we went.
We discovered that the researchers were trying to penetrate the plane of Air... and succeeded. In so doing they managed to suck their own souls out of their bodies. Having been warned by a mysterious Troll "drifter" that the situation absolutely had to be rectified, we managed to reproduce their efforts and entered the portal.
There, we discovered that the Namegivers, and ourselves, were starting to turn into draconic creatures. We ultimately learned that the draconics were not happy with the incursion and decided they needed spies. So, they kept the spirits separated from the bodies and were going to place draconic spirits inside, to enable infiltration of Barsaive.
We managed to get four of the five souls reunited with their bodies. Not sure what happened to the fifth soul; we'll have to investigate further. I took especial pains to make sure the scholars knew how unhappy I was with their choice of research topics. After that, we returned to Throal.
