The following is a recollection from Vralino Hammer-Shield, a 15 year old Ork girl who grew up avoiding society. At this point, she has found value in a small circle of friends and has even begun networking socially for jobs. The text remains unaltered to maintain its authenticity (Certain terms and names written wrong to keep in character). It is written in Or'zet.
Jerry Daicar is expanding. He and his brother have established a mine, and now we're going to set up a ferry system to transport people and cargo along the Garanga River! We're going to escort the construction crew. They even hired a scout to assist in the trip! I have to gather a team! I know
Thorkell would love to go.
Shana could probably be convinced to come, too. I got a couple other guys who want to go, but the only one I recognize is
Mazor. Being a leader is hard. I don't want to turn anyone down.
It was a long trip across the planes and through the jungle. Muddy terrain made entering the jungle difficult, but once the route has been completed, it should be easy to get to the mine. At the first outpost location, we fought some apes, but a few miles to the west there was a giant ape! I'm glad it didn't feel like coming our way. I'm not sure how well we would have fared against it.
Shana and
Thorkell came out with a couple injuries, but they were easily treated.
At the second outpost location, we found a set of ruins a few hours from the river.
Thorkell and
Mazor seemed interested by them. We ended up staying the night, but were interrupted by a couple shadow mants. Sevren, our scout was gravely injured, as was
Thorkell. They were both poisoned, too. Strong stuff; I couldn't cure it with my physician's kits. We stayed an extra day before returning to the river. Sevren stayed at the site to recover and gave us some notes to help us get to the next outpost site.
At the final outpost site, we came across some espagra. It's just not
Thorkell's day. They spat in his eyes, then they spat at me, then they spat at
Mazor.
Shana knocked one into the water. A crocodile ate it. Then
Lazulin knocked a second one into the water. A crocodile at that one, too. The last one we worked together to kill. I think
Thorkell wanted to keep the hide from it.
With all the outposts established, there shouldn't be much issue running the ferry down the river and back. Ben seemed happy about it, and
Thorkell probably blew all his money on living crystal. I got myself an Alchemist's kit and bought myself a Death Cheat. I can't wait to see how the next job goes!
