GM: ottdmk
Requester: ottdmk
Circle: ECR 8
Difficulty: Medium, although I'm flexible.

So, I feel like running something this week, 'cause I haven't run in quite a while and I feel like I'm getting rusty. So, please respond with your availability, and the ECRs of whatever characters you have available. I'm looking for 4-5 players, so I'll pick whatever ECR lets me get those numbers. If it turns out there's more folks then needed, well, I will be very pleasantly surprised.

From the journal of Xeviouz, Warrior of the 8th circle.

A recent adventuring companion, Daldorer, asked if I could assist him with a deed to unlock the full potential of his armor. I immediately accepted as I like all forms of armor, helps keep us adepts alive. Also along for the deed are William Carver, Karl Tommsen and Dvarim.

The armor in question has a spirit living inside of it. The spirits name is Balmornin. Daldorer needs to talk to the spirit. The spirit seems to be upset that Daldorer has taken so long to try to speak to it after having the armor for so long. It seems to be a female voice. The spirit says she was once an apprentice to Varantor, before the scourge. Varantor was corrupted because he didn't use spell matrices. Horrors promised him a long life, in exchange for him to sacrifice his apprentice to the horrors. A few years later Balmornin was supposed and asked if she wouldn't mind powering up this armor, she replied sure as long as her former master was taken out. Well, powerful nethermancers have a habit of not staying dead. SO apparently Varantor has become a spirit, and is out there gaining strength. He is almost as powerful now as before he died. We have to now take care of the spirit known as Barantor.

We ask about his skills and power. Balmornin says he was a journeyman Nethermancer when he was alive, and has now had a couple hundred years to grow in power. She also tells us he is/was arrogant. He set himself up in some ruins near the Kitharen pass. Supposedly near his previous base in the mountains east of Throal. We head over to the great Library to do some research on the area, see if we can find a map with Kitheran Pass on it.

William Carver says the fastest route would be to head over to Sosanopa then go down river by boat. As opposed to going over the mountains. When we arrive at Sosanopa, none of the river boats are going the way we need. None seem interested until William says it can be an expedition//////////…... down river to find elemental water and earth. Now they are interested. William Carver is able to locate 3 different Elemental water nodes on our way to our destination 49.9. We disembark the river boat and head up into the mountains towards 49.10. We hike all day and then make camp for the night. I place my Boundary Stones out as we make camp.

During the evening we all notice alot of rumbling coming from the ground. We are attacked by a Rockworm that is quickly killed by Karl and William. Just as I am congratulating the boys several more rockworms show up. We make quick work of the rockworms and then enjoy a quiet night.

Next morning after karma rituals we head up into the mountains, following Williams lead. After a few hours journey we notice some ruins in the distance. William says there is movement around the ruins. William and Karl sneak up and take a look around. When they return to us they say there are about 120 undead humanoids lurking around up there. We are trying to devise a plan of how to get by them, or how to eliminate them en mass. After much discussion Dvarim summons an Earth Elemental to do some scouting for us. He bargains with the elemental and is able to get 2 services. Dvarim asks the elemental to locate the horror corrupted nethermancer that is hiding up in the ruins ahead. The elemental heads out, and never returns. Just as we are getting ready to roll out and do a frontal assault, the elemental returns. It says it took so long because the ground is wrong. Dvarim asks the elemental to tells us where the nethermancer is located. We then all get a set of steel wings from Dvarims spell and we fly to the ruins. We fly into the ruins right where we can access the underground. We go through the door and bar it before any of the undead can get to us. Charlie, William Carver's mount, and Ruben, Karls bear both stay behind. As we make our way through the cavern we come across the Spirit we are looking for. It is a quick brutal fight and the spirit goes down. Daldorer does the things he neds to do with the dead spirit. We disrupt all the bone circles we find in the area. We escape the cavern unmolested and head back to throal on the steel wings provided by Dvarim.

My name is William Carver. I am an eighth circle Scout, fifth circle Thief, First rank Journeyman, and a First Circle Cavalryman.

Our adventure begin when Daldorer spoke with the spirit in his armor, it had a deed for him to complete. He needed to find a former Nethermancer that made a deal with a horror by the name of Varintor and destroy him. Balmoren the spirit with the armor was able to give us his last known location.

For the adventure Daldorer decided to contact Myself, Dvarim, Xeviouz and Karl. We needed to travel to 49.10, I wanted to take Charlie out and let him really spread his legs, but Dvarim was all grumpy about "woods" and "bugs" and "nature", so I relented and we traveled down the river by boat leaving from Sosanopa. It was fairly easy to travel the mountains and Charlie enjoyed his time in the them.

Of note I was able to book passage down the river for free! I met a T'srang and I talked him into taking us down the river in search of Elemental Water, I had just learned to detect it, so this was most fortunate and it paid for our overall expedition.

Now we did have a small spot of trouble. We were attacked by a pack of rockworms. Karl and I killed one quickly, and three more appeared shortly afterwards. I remember when a single rock worm would terrify us, now four of them barely slowed us down. Xeviouz is a sight to see now, as is Karl. They are growing fast Charlie and I need to work harder to catch up to them or they will leave us behind.

Next we found the pass and Karl and I scouted it. This was a horrifying sight, now I don't really fear one or two Cadaverman, but this was an unpassion'd number of them. I got a rough count of about 120 of them... and they were in the ruins that we needed to get into.

Dvarim summoned an elemental.. Dvarim mister civilization himself called upon an earth elemental. He spoke with it for a bit, made some sort of deal with it. He was able to find our target, and able to construct a map with a location of the entrance. Then Dvarim cast upon us metal wings! and we soared in the sky like the birds. I tried to take Charlie with me, but he couldn't fly and I wasn't strong enough to carry him. Xeviouz and I briefly thought about carrying him together but we gave up on that idea very quickly.

We traveled into the cavern and locked the door behind us. Then we found the nethermancer that was horror corrupted and engaged him. We were able to defeat him, but not without some damage to us. He held his own for a bit, it was a good thing we were able to distract and taunt him as well as we could.

We did end up leaving the cadavarmen behind when we flew away. We need to go back and destroy them at some point, but we were pressed for time and ill suited to fighting them from inside the ruins, and it was a lot of them.. a lot of them. We need to also finish cleaning out the lair of the nethermancer as well. We did what we needed to and completed our primary objective.. we just left a lot left to take care this time around.
