Myself, Dhuban, Jael and William Carver are all asked by Volkir to accompany him to the site of a dead Wyvern. He wants to collect its skull for a helmet for some odd reason. We need to head out to the Servos Jungle and look for an old battle site. We need to follow a river, past some waterfalls, around some ruins that may or may not exist. We all meet at Iron Delv (40.14) and head out from there. The village is becoming a small city with permanent structures.
As we are walking through the jungle, it is very hot and very humid. I am assisting Dhuban being a lookout. I keep pointing out interesting things to him but he dose not seem to be very interested. All the animals I can see look as though they are quiet large for what they are. Like mice and very big for being mice. Lots of bird calls. After the end of our first day of hiking, William Carver thinks we should make it to the battle site midday tomorrow. As we are setting camp, Jael says he saw someone. When we look there is nobody there. Jael says he swears there was a name giver right there, Elf, Human sized. If there was, the person has amazing camouflage skills. We bed down and set up a rotating watch.
The last watch of the night, William and I are taking and we are attacked by a large predatory cat. Green and brown and has 6 legs and a bony tail that it uses to attack. I alert the rest of the crew and charge it after it mauls William Carver. I am able to engage the cat before it can pull William Carver up into a tree. I shield bash it to knock it down then followup with a savage blow from my Sword of Mourning. The cat lay dead, next to william who is almost dead. We patch up William, he uses his recovery tests and we rest a little more.
Net morning we do Karma Rituals and head out. William Carver is fine now no worse for wear. He indicates we should be at the site in about 6-8 hours. We come to a narrow canyon with water rushing down 50’ below us. There is an old rope bridge with wood slats. The bridge doesn't look very old. Me are making preparations to cross the bridge when Dhuban says there are large lizards on the other side of the canyon, hiding in the bushes. William says there is a face on a tree on this side of the canyon. I cant see it. Dhuban uses his Astral Sight and says the tree is more like a name givers pattern, not a tree pattern. Dhuban starts talking to the tree. Jael recounts a story he heard about a group of Elves that stayed in the jungle during the scourge under some protection of Jaspree. As Dhuban puts his hands on the tree a pair of wooden hands reach down to claw him. Then a wooden looking elf jumps out the back side of the tree and jumps towards another tree, then another tree and gets away from us.
Volkir jumps across the ravine with a rope tied to him. Xeviouz comes across the bridge next. As I am half way across the bridge a herd of Esparge attacks. It is a short vicious battle, many of us are blinded. Be we are able to kill half of the lizard birds, the last 3 fly off. We continue on our way and stop a short while later to rest and heal. William says it should be a couple hours to the next landmark we are looking for. A clear pool of water. We find it no problem It is time to make camp so we camp here. Jael is checking the pool and a giant newt jumps out at him. We are able to hit the thing a couple of times and it dives back into the pond.
Just at the Newt is swimming away we are attack by a couple of wooden elf creatures. We make quick work of the first wooden elf, the second one says “go away” just before it jumps into a tree and runoff tree to tree. We sleep the night with rotating watches.
On the third morning just as we are getting to the ruins where the downed Wyvern is supposed to be located, we hear guttural voices and heavy footsteps. Dhuban casts a few defensive spells on us and we move forward. There is a very large dinosaur creature and several really large T’skrang looking things. A ferocious battle ensues. The extra large version of T’Skrang come to either side of a set of stairs, William Carver notices a large spike trap right in front of Xeviouz, the dinosaur charges Xeviouz and tries to knock him down, but does succeed in giving him a wound. After the battle we rest and recover. Volkir does the ritual on the Wyvern bones that we came here to do. Afterward we immediately head for Throal. It is another couple of grueling days in the jungle until we make it to Iron Delv. Once we reach Iron Delv the rest of the trip back is very uneventful.
