15 Riag, 1422 T.H.
Having made my way to Throal, I must now seek out opportunities for adventure. Lobaeck Honorstone, a wizened Dwarf librarian, has informed us that he believes he has discovered a a Kaer in the mountains, hidden beneath a false ruined tower near the Serpent River. Accompanying him are Fliver, male Windling Illusionist, Robert, male Human Wizard, Whyr'wyndyl, male Windling Warrior.

20 Riag
After trekking over the mountains for several days and seeing nothing interesting, a pack of wolves happens upon us in the middle of the night. Fliver cast his "Nobody Here" spell, and the wolves came into our camp sniffing things. Eventually Whyr'wyndyl caught their attention and they attacked, so I responded by stabbing their leader in the belly and thumping him with my tail. A grand melee ensued, with Whyr'wyndyl getting knocked prone at one point. I bravely stood over him and sliced the Alpha Wolf from stem to stern. With its body still twitching on the ground, I gave its second a good thumping. At this point, the surviving wolves ran off. They acquitted themselves well, however, having wounded me in the process.

22 Riag
We arrive at the ruin, which has been repopulated with Cadaver Men. Robert develops a cunning plan to use layered Life Circles of One to defend himself and then manages to walk into a Bear Trap! The Cadaver Men seized that opportunity to attack him and though I tried to gather their attention with some well-placed Taunts, Whyr'wyndyl stayed outside the defensive radii, rendering them moot. They were no math for us, however, and though they got one good shot in, we took them out forthwith.

That left us with the Kaer Entrance, which had a large circle with five depressions in it, each one labeled with one of the elements. First we tried sticking a kernel of True Wood in the wood depression, but a poison gas cloud expelled itself at us and that was horrible. We tried using Robert's Levitate Spell to try to insert all five elements at the same time, but that just resulted in a large cataclysm of elemental reactions. We then managed to puzzle out which element was weak against which element and when we tried that combination, a staircase opened up allowing us to climb deeper into the Kaer.

Robert reported that Astral Space down here was Safe and a simple door was flanked by statues of Garlen and Floranuus. I knocked politely on the door and when nobody answered, I opened the door and found an armed group of Namegivers there to greet us. We talked and danced and stuff and brought back a few representatives from Kaer Archmouth with us back to Throal.

17 Teayu, 1422 T.H.
There is a village a few days' travel from Throal that is apparently under control of the Horrors and no one has done anything about it! The threat in question sounds a little beyond even my illustrious abilities, and so I must resign myself to damage control for the time. I gathered together some Adepts seeking adventure and we went to patrol to road to Sosonopa so that we could intercept any Namegivers, Horrors, Constructs, Creatures, or other things sent by those vile people to do harm to the rest of civilization.

20 Teayu
And intercept we did! One Wonjin, male Troll Warrior from the Iceclaw Moot was making his way to Throal to report that his people were under siege by a swarm of Blood Bees. Apparently their war with the Blood Bees had not ended with the death of the Blood Bee Queen as previously reported. Perhaps there was a new Blood Bee Queen, even more beautiful and terrible than before! We headed North-East immediately to investigate.

21 Teayu
While traveling North, we encountered a small cluster of giant red ants. Dawn had nearly arrived and I was on watch with Zhuron when I noticed a chittering noise getting closer. I nudged Dubhan awake and and a small troupe of giant red ants attacked. What is with these mountains and giant insects!? I squared off against a worker and a drone while Dubhan woke Whyr'wyndyl and Zhuran held his ground against the soldier ant. We had initially not expected Wonjin to fight as he was injured and exhausted when we found him, but he eventually was able to get up and use his Troll Flail to help harry the ants while we took them out. One escaped, however, so it made it back to its nest. Why did they attack? We may never know.

23 Teayu
Finally arriving at the Iceclaws, I introduce myself and my allies to Ixta, their leader, and I offer to render aid. She supplies us with some Kelix's Poultices in case the bee venom gets to be too much for us, and we head further into the mountains to explore.

Whyr'wyndl spotted a small cluster of Blood Bees and we quickly dispatched them but did not realize that they were just the beginning. A large swarm including two Blood Bee Warriors came down and surrounded us. Things got nasty for a while as my sword got heavier and heavier, but I just stayed on the defensive while the Wizard cast his magical aids on us, making us stronger and stronger and the Warriors slowly cranked out the damage against the Blood Bees.

The Bees had this nasty attack where they jab you with their stinger and suck out your blood like a reverse cream puff, but Zhuran's spear proved quite effective at prying their stingers out and then murdering the little buggers. We killed most of them, but, like the ants, some escaped.

30 Teayu
The Trolls aided me with my Strength Training and then we headed home.

10 Borrum, 1422 T.H.
The corrupted insects roam the landscape and so must we. Fliver has received word that coating yourself in salt protects you from the Bee's attacks, but my daily bathing supplies already place a heavy burden on my already weary shoulders, so I decided to opt out.

15 Borrum
As we journeyed, Fliver kept trying to lead us on "shortcuts" over mountains, but I tried to keep us traveling North instead of up and down. We kept encountering scouting parties of ants. Easily defeated, the ants were too fast for us to reliably follow and several attempts to track them back to their nest resulted in aimless wandering off the trail. Night began to fall with an hour left in our journey to the Iceclaw Moot, but we decided to press on and luckily made it inside without any further trouble.

16 Borrum
The Iceclaws armed us with knowledge of a cave inhabited by the Blood Bees. Their hive, perhaps? We rested for the night not far from the location, close enough unfortunately for them to detect our presence. Whyr'wyndyl was on watch when two Soldiers attacked. He woke us up and Fliver cast his Blindness Spell upon them and we were able to drive them away.

17 Borrum
Slowly, carefully, we made our way into the cave. I hung in the rear while the Windlings scouted ahead and tried to attract the attention of the Bees. That's when I spotted a wretched stinking undead thing in the shape of a wolf that attacked us from behind. Did I say I was guarding the rear? Because I was, and so I bravely stood between the wolf thing and the rest of my friends, retching all the way as its hideous stench permeated the air.

Despite the difficulties, we slew the beasts we could find but the cave, alas, was just another cave, not the lair of the Blood Bee Queen as we had hoped. How will we locate her?

15 Raquas, 1423 T.H.
An Elven merchant by name of Lentera sent out word that he was looking to establish a new trade route but didn't say where. After speaking with him for a few minutes, it became clear that he was not merely being secretive, he had no idea *where* he was going to build his new trade route. After consulting the maps for a few minutes, while it would certainly be advantageous to my people to have one more way of trading with Throal, that advantage would be minimal, and it would be far better for Lentera to seek alternate route.

We briefly discussed helping him build overland trade routes either to Sosonapa or to Archmouth, but these proved difficult due to Archmouth's distance and Sosonapa's Horror infestation, so we instead recommended upgrading the trail to the Iceclaw Moot from a simple path to a proper trade route. It was riskier than trading with my people, which meant it was the right thing to do!

17 Raquas, 1423 T.H.
Our mettle was briefly tested on the route to the Iceclaws in a daring midnight raid by some wolves, which gave me a chance to see my new Swordmaster buddy in action. An Alpha wolf pair was leading some younger pups in their first hunt for Namegiver flesh and we proved too hardy prey to take down. Lasairfhíona wisely led those who were awake against the Alpha male whilst I, armed with tailblade and broadsword, took down the Alpha female.

18 Raquas, 1423 T.H.
The Iceclaws welcomed us with open arms after we demonstrated that we were free of the influence of the Horrors and we descended into heady negotiations with the Iceclaws. Lately, they've been plagued not just by bees and ants but also Spiders. I'd've thought the Spiders would *eat* the bees and ants, but, alas, it seems they were interested in more sapient snacks, and so off we went to prove to the Iceclaws that we could defend ourselves against bloodsucking bees *and* bloodsucking spiders.

19 Raquas, 1423 T.H.
We were following Blaethynn through the woods when he noticed two spiders. Quickly, the battle was joined but we were unable to prevent Blaethynn from succumbing from the poison. Down a mobile attacker, it quickly looked like we would be outnumbered, but the tide turned and the spiders fled.

Our triumph was diminished, however, as a group of treacherous Dwarves had arrived to steal our thunder and open up trade with the Iceclaws!

20 Raquas, 1423 T.H.
A bargain was struck: Whichever group could build their shelter the fastest would be granted the contract. Avalan used his Strength and Elemental Wisdom to help select the best trees. Blaethynn used his sharp blades to fell and clean as well as his Craftiness to build our shack soundly. Fredi and Su used their brute strength to haul and position the timbers. Lasairfhíona chopped trees and helped put them into position. I had negotiated the purchase of an axe and used to to chop and clean trees, and then attempted to roll the logs into place by dancing on them to maintain momentum.

Things looked close for a while, but we were able to complete our shelter before the Dwarves and the day was won!

Someone will have to take care of these blasted ants, bees, and spiders, but today is a day for friendship and trade.

From the Journal of Jik'escala, T'Skrang Swordswoman Extraordinaire:

2 Sollus, 1423 T.H.
The Great Library has hired us to investigate signs of Civilization on the Eastern Shore of the Mid-Reach found by a previous adventuring party. We were able to book passage on the X'Egirathla II and I look forward to several days of idleness and bathing onboard.

6 Sollus
My Niall has dropped us off on the shore and is continuing on to Syrtis for trade. Dubhan has quite the hangover from all the "forced" drinking he participated in on the trip.

8 Sollus
Having cut a swath through the jungle, we arrived at a glowing orange crystal sitting in the base of a ruined tower. We believed it might be a shard of a Kaer Crystal and approached cautiously. At first it appeared friendly, claiming to be a wish-granting crystal. I was lured in closer by its charming humming, otherwise I would have recognized it immediately as a Crystal Entity.

We tried to speak with it, to learn the history of the Kaers nearby, but it kept offering me more and more (and creepier and creepier) enhancements. In the vicinity was a Human Troubadour of Kaer Ogden Named Alsya, the last of her adventuring party.

To my horror, the entity bathed me in its strange orange light and crystal began to grow in my arms, doubling my Strength. Blaethynn and I charged to attack it, but it smote him in a single round and I sounded the retreat. The shards that struck Blaethynn refused to leave and he was cursed with unceasing pain, but his knowledge of Curses proved sufficient and he was able to remove them. The Horror's grip on me, however, was too strong.

We fled into the nearby woods to recover, but the Horror's influence on me continued. It whispered in my ear and grew crystals in my eyes to replace my natural vision with its lies. I knew I did not have long for the world and sought to regain my honor. There was a cave where Alsya had tracked her friends, and she believed that they had succumbed to the Horror's influence as well. If we could vanquish them before the Horror truly had control over me, perhaps that would be enough.

9 Sollus
We enter the cave. With any luck, we'll be able to destroy the minions of that horrible thing before I join them. The thought of what happens next, however, does not please me.

9 Sollus (continued)
Within the cave, we found the rest of Alsya's companions. Dead on the floor were four former Adepts, deformed as I was by the Crystal Entity's "gifts". Pacing above them was a gaunt Ork, a Nethermancer Named Rikund. Rikund barely held any grip on his sanity, but relayed the story of how his friends took their own lives to prevent the Crystal Entity from enslaving them, imbuing their "enhancements" with a Dying Act that would allow us to spend their life energy defeating the thing.

We formed a line and charged the damned thing, Blaethynn and Alsya carving a path for us. Empowered by the Dying Act of Ogden's adventurers, I cleaved a hunk off of it with Honorable Defender. Dubhan and Durgin expended their charms as well, rivening the thing and causing its glow to cease forever. The crystals within me broke up, causing great pain but mercifully relieving me of the Entity's enhancements without destroying my arms or my vision.

We sent a report to Alsya's superiors with her and set course back home to Throal.

From the Journal of Jik'escala, T'Skrang Swordswoman Extraordinaire:

15 Riag, 1423 T.H.
Alsya arrived at Throal seeking assistance with the political situation in the Mid-Reach. Kaer Ogden apparently was once joined with two other Kaers during the Scourge, but political infighting and opportunistic Slavery had driven them apart. The doors between the Kaers remain sealed and someone is needed to open them.

17 Riag
The crew of X'Egirathla II has grown bored and asked us to aid and entertain them on the voyage. I Danced and Nagivated while Lasairfhiona Navigated and got caught in the rigging. Others aided too and they promised not dump us in too unreasonable a location.

21 Riag
Camped in the woods near Kaer Ogden, we were accosted by a band of Ogres. I noticed their leader was not only larger, but frequently surrounded by an aura of energy. I deduced that he was an Ogre Twin, and Osahar and I ensured that any time one twin appeared, he was immediately savaged by our blows. Quis'Tan mounted his Spirit and flew in and out of combat, tearing swaths in the flesh of the Ogres. Lasairfhíona held one at bay while Blaethynn used his social skills to convince the other to abandon his squad, which succeded. The other three Ogres were unwilling to listen to reason and forced us to destroy them. Perhaps in the future the surviving Ogre will be able to apply the lessons he learned.

22 Riag
We located the ruin where the Kaer entrance lay and began exploring. We found numerous signs of Horrors that had tried to breach the Kaer, but it was not until we found a room full of target dummies that we saw signs of life. The targeting dummies stood up and formed a horde of enemies.

Straw is no match for flame or blade, and I began merrily chopping away at any within reach. Osahar stuck many an arrow into his foes while Lasairfhíona took the difficult job of crowd control, often facing three at once. Quis'Tan and Blaethynn burned the strawmen with torches while Quis'Tan's Spirit Mount gnawed on the hay. We defeated the Strawmen, but not without loss, as Quis'Tan dropped and then fell to a coup de grace from one of the minions.

Yes, I say minions. Lurking behind them all was a Dwarf Nethermancer we knew only as The Beholder, who knocked me to the ground with an Astral Spear, Frightened Quis'Tan into being surrounded by Strawmen, and threw Spirit Darts at Blaethynn. Once we had cleared enough of the minions, Osahar lined up the perfect shot and annihilated him, but not without cost. The Beholder rose again and unleashed the total fury of his Death's Head Spell, paralyzing Osahar with fear.

As Lasairfhíona and I advanced to end The Beholder, Blaethynn tended to Frightened Osahar, and a new villain entered the scene. The Knight of the Crimson Branch, who had attacked Kaer Ogden in the first place and earned mistrust with Throal for his actions, turned his tabard over to Osahar, commanding us to leave or suffer his wrath.

17 Riag, 1423 T.H.
A cloud of Windlings descended upon the Gates of Throal, and rumor spread like wildfire that their town had been overrun by strange animal attacks. Quis'Tan and I spoke with one of the village leaders and soon we were off with Fenrir, a Windling from another village, and Teddy, a charming Troll Air Sailor of all things.

23 Riag
The road to Bortruk's Passing was easy enough, but the village itself was well-secluded, even from the animals of the forest. No game trails, watering holes, nesting grounds, or other sites where animals congregated was nearby, so why the animal attacks? We spotted the dessicated corpse of a monkey that had died from some advanced wasting disease, and that confirmed our darkest fears: Horrors! We were not far from the Windling Runic Circle and proceeded to try and measure the extent of the taint and whether that particular sacred site had been affected.

23 Riag (continued)
Clearly defaced with runes written in blood, the runic circle had ceased to be a place of calm and healing and instead it drove all animals who came near it into mad creatures bent only on destruction. The animals, some gorillas and monkeys in number, as well as Fenrir's menagerie, approached the runic circle, and any who touched it were imbued with a consuming aura of aggression and hatred. We quickly went to work trying to prevent the few animals who had not touched the circle from getting tainted, and putting down those that had become tainted irrevocably. We scrubbed the runic circle clean, dispelling the effect, but its origin remains unknown.

The Journal of Jik'escala, T'Skrang Swordswoman Extraordinaire

17 Gahmil, 1424 T.H.
Sergeant Brandel Corey of the Arm of Throal sent out word of a party of Orks from a nearby civilization in quarrantine that need dealing with. I summoned Fredi and my Obsidicompatriots to speak with him and the encounter was most...disappointing. He seemed rather upset at the idea that the Orks might wish to engage in commerce with Throal, and he hinted that he would prefer we slew them all. Clearly Throal's Military has been sitting idle too long, they've been developing strange ideas.

17 Gahmil (continued)
We met with the leader of the Ork merchants, one Krothu, who explained that his people had had dealings with Sosonopa and they had grown concerned about the possiblity that we were all Dopplers. Beyond the customary Artisan Check, he insisted we all remove our armor and bare our chests for him. Avalan and Quis'Tan and I had no problem with this, but Fredi seemed a tad lost for words. After some back and forth, we discovered there was some sort of strange Mammal Modesty Ritual that she was trying to follow and an alternate arrangement was made.

We inspected the Orks and their wares, and Avalan treated them to some Heated Food. Finding no cause for suspicion, we cleared them to enter Throal, but an armed party of Dwarves turned us away even after I explained that we had been charged with this task by Sergeant Corey. It seems the Throalic Military was demanding we go all the way back to their town to inspect the entire populace, as if this was somehow efficient or effective. Resolved to extoll upon them the virtues of trading with the T'Skrang, we set a course through the mountains back to the village of Dormu where there the Orks had built their settlement, intent on carrying out the Dwarfs' entirely unreasonable demands to ensure we at least would keep up our end of bargains.

22 Gahmil
Our arrival at Dormu was greeted, as has become the usual, with suspicion. They summoned their Champion to fight one of us to determine if we would earn the right to enter. After discussing our options, we concluded that I would be the best choice to serve as Champion. My blades are as shart as Quis'Tan's axe, but my tail serves as a good club for thumping someone on the upside of the head, allowing us to capture, or in this case appease, them. He got in a good shot on the first round when I was still warming up, but once I deployed my Patent-Pending Web of Steel(TM) Aggressive Tail Attack Combo, it was nowhere but downhill for poor Rugorim. Each round, I gave better than I got, and it was only a matter of time before he yielded consciousness and thus the fight.

27 Gahmil
After several days of trade discussion and cartographic consultation, the Orks have agreed to explore commercial opportunitues with my own Niall of P'Tlomais (by way of Syrtis and V'Strimon) as well as overland to Throal. The Orks report that their numbers dwindled over the course of the Scourge, which I found unusual. I tried to speak to their females to see if they were having troubles in the Rookery, but they would not speak of such things with me. We'll have to explore their Kaer to see if there's some lingering trouble within.

27 Gahmil (Continued)
To celebrate our new trade agreements, the Orks are organizing a hunting expedition. Whoever brings back the most dangerous prey earns the respect of the town, so we set our sights on something spectacular and boy did we succeed. We found an escarpment where some giant centipedes and a tasty-looking iguana were basking in the sun on the far side near some ratscorpions. The rest of the party, fearful of being harmed, drank Antidote Potions while I sauntered forth to engage. Quis'Tan and Fredi charged the ratscorpions, which proved no match for them, but the iguana moved into combat and began shooting frickin' lasers out of its eyes, dropping Fredi and nearly killing Quis'Tan in the process.

I initially engaged one of the Centipedes, but when things began to turn sour for my friends, I brought the thunder to the Laser-Iguana so that Avalan could clear the remaining creatures from the battle unhindered. Still, things did not look up for us and I began to contemplate retreat when we heard the familiar roar of Callisto, Fenrir's Ursine Companion. The two of them joined the battle and Fenrir Imbued me with the Spirit of the Boar, allowing me to wreck the house as our foes began to dwindle in number. When we returned to the town, we had the most impressive kill by far and there was much rejoicing.

From the Journal of Jik'escala, T'Skrang Swordswoman Extraordinaire:

1 Borrum, 1424 T.H.
The Iceclaw Moot has posted a bounty for red ants and since I have some experience fighting these ferocious creatures, I have asked a few friends to come join me on a trip up into the mountains. We're heading out with the last caravan before the mountains become impassable.

7 Borrum
Having arrived at Iceclaw Moot, we met with their leader Ixta inside their tavern hall. She informed us that they had located the ant's nest and would bring us there, which is good because none of us are competent Navigators (we need to work on that). She offered us one of her scouts as guide.

10 Borrum
We arrived at the entrance of the cave and I was initially concerned it was no longer occupied. As we began exploring, the cave complex initially appeared deserted as well. We allowed ourselves get too lulled and as a result when we did encounter resistance, Bob was quickly surrounded. We were able to make a hole for him but Fredi and Su just ended up taking his place as surrounded. We developed some combat discipline eventually, and took turns holding the line and pushing forward, allowing us to slay a dozen of the beasties.

After a brief rest, we pressed forward more conservatively, mapping out the maze of tiny passages until we found a large open room with more red ants. Fredi charged forward, springing the trap nicely and we all jumped down to aid her. A massive red ant with a bulbous and bloated abdomen (surely the Queen) attacked me and I spent the last of my luck getting out of her way. With all the insects slain, we returned to Iceclaw for our reward.

The Journal of Jik'escala, T'Skrang Swordswoman Extraordinaire

1 Strassa, 1425 T.H.
The Throalic Military has put together reports of missing travelers on the road North out of the kingdom. Despite having dealt with Sgt. Corey in the past, I have agreed to make the surface safe for all Namegivers, and so I agreed. August and I met with Fredi and an Elven Beastmaster Named Jael. Jael had some sort of mutant wolf in his employ but he ensured us that Zoomy's Metallic attunement was not the result of manipulation by the Horrors.

3 Strassa
We've spent several days looking like babes in the woods. I, with my sword stowed and my trusty tail blade buried deep in my gear, and the Troajin looking more like beasts of burden than trained war mounts.

A troupe of barely cogent Ogres attacked us and were quickly dispatched. They bore no evidence of being the culprits or any other signs of civilization, but were the first clue we've encountered, so we had Zoomy follow their trail back to their lair.

3 Strassa (continued)
Outside the Ogre's lair, we debated how to proceed when three ran out with a war rhinoceros. Jael was able to scare the rhino into retreating back into its lair and two Ogres followed it, the last fell to our blades.

Chasing them within, we found piles of carefully arranged and ravenously gnawed bones. As we advanced on the remaining Ogres, some giant thing like a T'Skrang version of an ogre came out and knocked August out in a single blow. I was mostly weakened by the day's exertions, so I put myself in a defensive posture and occupied the two Ogres while Jael and his pets attacked the T'Skroger. Fredi, of course, bounced back and forth on Su, and eventually our foes fell or fled.

Beyond the piles of bones, we found 15 casks full of blood, in varying states of decay. We had no Wizard with us, but surely this place is corrupted and a horror is at large.
