We were sent to deal with Iceclaw Moot's need for extermination of horror-tainted (we think) blood bees. The group we had with us was not very powerful, and we were warned that some ants in another direction might be more appropriate for us. Being hasty folk the party decided to attack and try to kill the queen of the bees. I did not object to this course of action, being perhaps overeager to clean that which the horrors have defiled.

We began to search the area in which we were told the bee's attacks had been occurring. We saw a few worker bees sunning themselves and dispatched one, letting the other escape. This proved unfortunate, as we continued into an ambush. The main force was a group of drones and workers to the east escorted by one soldier bee. Given the likelyhood that a warning had been given I looked further and found a squad of soldier bees with backup to the south-southeast. In order to check the ambush I charged into the squad and was initially somewhat successful. However, we were bogged down by the sheer numbers of attackers and nearly overwhelmed. I was forced by many small hurts and a couple large wounds to leave the action temporarily. I managed to retrieve our shaman when he went down entirely, and returned to assist the others. With luck and determination the tide turned and the beasts were vanquished. However, the damage we suffered forced us to retreat to the moot for the time being.

[Taken down from a verbal recount}

So we got this call from old Lentera, up at Iceclaw Moot. Seems they were still having trouble with the giant insect swarms, and Lentera thought to build some goodwill by hiring a few Adepts to get rid of them. So Whyr’wyndyl, Quis’tan and I went up there with a Shaman we had just met named Kian.

Turns out there were two sets of problems ants one way, and blood bees another. We decided to go after the bees, even though reports of their strength were a bit higher than those of the ants. After heading into the wilderness for a day or so, we ran into a few scouts. While we quickly dispatched two of them, a third escaped, presumably to warn the hive. And warned they were.

It wasn’t long after that, while negotiating a rough path through the hills, that we were set upon by a swarm of bees, including soldiers and larger drones. Whyr’wyndyl was separated from the rest of us, and the bees quickly surrounded the rest of our party, greatly reducing our mobility. This proved to be a major problem for Quis’tan, who was hurt so badly that he was forced to withdraw to catch his breath for a moment. We eventually managed to reduce their numbers a bit and drove them off, but it required the use of several antidotes and poultices, and left us badly injured as a whole.

We returned to Iceclaw Moot, having reduced the numbers of the bees but not having killed their queen, and reported to Lentera. There was some disappointment that we did not complete our total objective, but we still received partial payment, as well as a lesson in humility.
