Additional notes: The outbreak of fish appearances lead to an invasion by the undead(?). The animated monsters were defeated by the Adepts, and a journal was found which indicated that a villager summoned a Horror instead of casting a love spell ritual. The villager gained a life afte death which was cut short.

Tide up and Worn Out

Rumor: The settlement of Tamerlin recently sent word out requesting Adepts to investigate the sudden appearance of hundreds of dead octopi in their local waters. The only issue is that they are fifty miles from the nearest large river, and settled in the western foothills of the Caucavic mountains.

A small group of adepts heads out to investigate. Headed to hex 44.05, just north of Ice Claw Moot. Myself, Cordwaine, Yotra, and Jael. On the second night I served for dinner a poison Oak salad. I didnt know any better. Karl Green meets us as we arrive at the village. He says they have been having rains of fish. Go to bed at night, wake up in the morning and fish are everywhere. Each day they gather up the dead smelly fish, haul them out of town and burn them.

After searching the town and the perimeter of the town, we notice some strange tacks out of the north end of town. After following the tracks for roughly 2 hours, we find a couple of tents, look like they are in poor shape. Looks abandon for several weeks but less than a year. No clear tracks around and no bodies. As we are searching the area, we feel the earth start to quiver and tentacles spring up out of the ground. After a devastating fight, these are some kind of horor construct. After examining, the skulls seem to come off, they are octopi, wearing the skulls as a festive hat. The skulls pear to be namegiver skulls, possibly human, fairly fresh skulls. We examine the ground where they came out. The ground they came from was nice and loamy and fertile looking, the ground around that is hard and packed.

We head back to town. We set up a schedule to get a couple hours of sleep then we patrol the town. Walk around the perimeter, then patrol the streets. Every hour. Just after midnight, Yotra feel like she is being watched. A little while later we are getting ready to do another circuit of the town and I step on something squishy. It is an Octopi. They and some fish are all over the place. Cordawaine flies up and out towards the edge of town and beyond to look for the edge of this dead fish effect. He finds the edge and starts coming back but is extremely fatigued and has to land. He crashes through the branches of a tree and screams for help. We all come running. Yotra notices the area smells like either. The farther south the stronger the smell. We head north back into town. Cordwaine puts a life circle 1 on the ground and asks for a dead fish to be thrown towards the circle. Then we throw a dead Octopi at the circle. Just then we hear a high pitched sound from the east. We head out to the east to investigate the sound. Cordwaine keep putting his Life Circles on the ground around the buildings. As we head to the east, a few minutes out of town we come to a couple low, stone buildings. The sounds are getting louder. It is a graveyard and a small stone church. As we enter we see a scurrying creature to the north. We move to investigate, it is several of the tentacle creatures and 2 ghoul like octopi. The creatures have a battle shout ability that harrys us. After a harrowing battle, we examine the corpses. There are long white tendrils around the humanoids, like the Octopi are controlling the humanoids like puppets, and the heads are missing. The last one to drop has a journal. It says something about a love spell placed on a girl in the village named Helen. The ritual, if this dead guy did it, is a summoning spell, not a love spell. We believe this spell was summoning the dead fish, not making Helen fall in love with him! The summoning is through a horror named K’nock. It delights in raising a person's dead loved ones and sending them to torment the family.
