From the Journal of Thane Cawdor.

Mr. Livé hired us for a journey into the Blood Wood. I did not like him when I first met him, and did not trust him now. At least he seems to be hiring people who have a good chance of surviving this time. He is looking for the bark of a Spectral Willow, a truly bizarre plant that seems to exist almost entirely in Astral Space. It apparently can only be seen in the Astral, or upon a moonlit night. He also warned us that some Hulkers (look like brutish mobile trees) had been terrorizing the area, which is why the Blood Elves had been unwilling to attempt to harvest the bark for him. We popped over to the library and did some research on both Spectral Willow's and Hulkers, then came back and asked if he had anything to store our harvest in. He loaned us a small Orecalcum box. He also gave us a stick, which was apparently a pass to allow us to travel the Blood Wood unmolested by the Blood Warders. So nice of him to finally have remembered that.

Since none of us trusted Mr. Livé's unsupported word, we all agreed to first stop at the village of Anuna where we have some acquaintances. It was several days out of our way, but we felt the detour worth our effort. We talked to the elder, and double checked that our "pass" was OK, and that it was OK for us to harvest some Spectral Willow bark. We also got an update on general going on's in the area. It seems that the area we are going to (map reference 2401) is near the queens gardens (so we were careful not to stray) and popular around the time of the full moon for young elves to hold festivals (when the Spectral Willows can be seen). He also warned us about he Hulker.

We had remarkably little trouble in the Blood Wood. One night 7 Thorned Toads attempted to ambush us, but other than Veris getting dragged around some, we soon ran them off. In the belly of one of the dead beasts I found a cool winged helm. It had all the signs of being a thread item, so we had Romari do Item Histories upon it on the way back. It seemed to be just the sort of thing that I would like, and once I tied a thread to it, it resized itself to fit me! It has many useful powers, including the ability to cast "Metal Wings".

We exited the forest and went around the edge until we were as close as we could get to our destination, then went straight for it. It still took us a few days, but only one day in the deep forest. We arrived at the glade with little additional trouble, though we frequently saw elves, none approached us. We had been warned that the Spectral Willow liked to try to "capture souls", so we had Romari look at it to see what that was like. We had to physically pick Romari up and carry him away from the tree, and he said he did not like that experiment. Looking around the glade, we also found the remains of several dead young elves.

We then spotted two Hulkers, which we destroyed. Some young elves had been observing us, and they gave us a cheer. Word of our victory spread quickly, and in no time a sizable group had gathered and a party had started. Feeling it was both my pleasure and my duty as a Questor of Floranuus, I used my new Passion granted Devotion "Telling the Tale" to sing a song of Revelry, but even I felt my offering was mediocre at best, and not quite within the tastes of the young crowd. Later on in the evening, after the wine had been flowing liberally, I tried another song, and this one seemed quite popular.
