From the battle logs of Bobitanthalnasatrythomoloso:

For this latest job I and the group of adepts that have become my customary companions (Jael, Grom & Yotra) were hired by a Weaponsmith to retrieve a particular ore from a cave a few days journey to the east.

As is customary on these travels, the need for combat was ever close. Our first encounter was with a bear-like creature called a Brithan. Grom was able to inform us on the beast: very territorial, and somewhat intelligent. A Brithan will challenge one member of a group to single combat. Wound the beast and it will retreat, leaving your group alone thereafter. If it defeats the chosen challenger though, it expects the entire group to run. On top of that, anything perceived as "interference" can send the Brithan into a killing frenzy.

I stepped forward, ready to challenge the beast. Yotra enhanced my prowess with a spell. To my great irritation, however, the Brithan passed me by and attacked Grom instead. On the bright side, Grom made short work of the fight.

Later on as half of us slept, we were attacked by two Ogres and their pet bear. Those of us on watch held them off until those of us asleep (like myself) were able to join the fray. We captured one Ogre, whom Yotra attempted to question regarding the ore we sought. The Ogre eventually escaped from us without providing any useful information; I should have followed my instincts and simply killed it.

That day we found a cave where we were able to mine sufficient quantities of the ore. On our way back to Throal we were ambushed by a pack of odd, metallic wolves. I will probably have nightmares about that attack. The creatures were fierce, hard to hit, and inflicted grevious wounds upon myself and Grom. We were lucky to escape with our lives. Fortunately, the rest of the return journey was uneventful. As our employer was a Weaponsmith on decent skill, I accepted some services in trade. My Blood Pebble now protects me better and my mace hits with greater force.

An illuminated page from the Tome of Eternal Power

1 Borrum, 1424 T.H.
Weaponsmith is looking for molybdenite, a rare ore that he uses to make special horseshoes. We go to abandoned mine.

3 Borrum
In the woods we came across an angry bear-thing that claimed the area as territory. Grom said it was a Brithan and one of us needed to fight it in single combat. I cast Monstrous Mantle on Bob to empower him to defeating the beast quickly, but apparently Bob was not fast enough and it decided that Grom would answer its challenge. Fortunately Grom was tough enough to survive.

3 Borrum (continued)
In middle of night, we are attacked by two Ogres and pet bear. First one Ogre runs, then bear, then we capture second Ogre. Bob wants to kill it, but they are intelligent, perhaps it knows about mine. We wake it and I try to communicate, but its accent is too think. Bob wants to kill it, says its life is forfeit for attacking us, but I argue with him. It escapes. Note to self: when trying to save life of captive, arguing with someone is as good as winning argument because the captive can escape.

4 Borrum
We mine ore. On way back to Throal, we walk through obvious trap. We are attacked by swift metallic wolves, very dangerous. Since is trap, I have prepared Blinding Glare spell, which renders wolves unable to see, though also often affects allies. Blind things rarely hit, so combat takes long time but we are not blind and so are victorious. Jael binds a wolf to take home and tame.

PCs:
Bobitanthalnasatrythomoloso, Obsid Warrior
Gromdarkobarmitsarunloco, Obsid Purifier
Jaen'val'Jael 'Jael' Savre, male Elf Beastmaster
Yotra, female Troll Illusionist

NPCs:
Pagram Densch, male Dwarf Weaponsmith
Fido, a dog
Hedbut, a goat
Zoomy, a swift metallic wolf
