From the battle logs of Bobitanthalnasatrythomoloso:

For my latest job I and a few other adepts of my acquaintance (Jael, Grom & Yotra) answered a call for newer Adepts from one Avalandohamagannahnieventhallailmar, an Obsidiman Adept of some renown in Throal who operates a business he calls "Giant Spider People." He wished to subcontract a job, namely the locating of a Dwarven Beastmaster who was investigating some multilegged creatures of some kind. Along with an Air Sailor named Aerick, we set out.

I have no skill in the wilderness. I rely on my companions to get me where I need to go to hit things. This trip was exceptional in how difficult it was to find our way. I think the Passions themselves may have been set against us. We ended up finding the Dwarf, but the way was long and difficult.

First there were giant bees. Blood bees, I think one of my colleagues called them. They were ferocious fighters. One even managed a masterful stroke against Aerick, ending the Air Sailor's life in an instant. Yotra the Illusionist was also paralyzed and helpless during the fight. Still, we managed. I took a wound during the fight that would follow me until the return to Throal.

I will confess to being somewhat depressed at the amount of death around me. This was the fourth job I've taken since traveling to Throal. For the third time in a row, one of my colleagues did not return from the adventure. If this streak continues I shall wonder if the Passions have been set against me for some reason or another.

The next day we traveled onwards, and encountered a pack of wolves. I am wary of wolves ever since the incident that claimed Vashir, but we managed to escape these ones unharmed.

Shortly after, we came across a cave where we fought bizarre scorpion-like things. It was also there that we found the Dwarf we sought, apparently killed by the same things he sought. From the evidence in the cavern it would seem that what we fought were quite young. I would hate to fight the same things fully grown if that is the case!

An illuminated page from the Tome of Eternal Power

28 Teayu, 1424 T.H.
An organization curiously called "Giant Spider People" is hiring Adepts to combat infestations of spiders and other arachnoid monsters that threaten Namegivers. I have applied to this endeavor along with Bob and several others. A Dwarven Beastmaster of their acquaintance has made some attempts to tame some multilegged creatures and they have lost contact with him. We are to attempt rescue of Dwarf if possible and eliminate any threats to Namegivers that we find.

29 Teayu
We are attacked by giant bees. They have an accordion-like sack in their abdomens that they use to drain blood from their victims. We saw this ability firsthand as one managed to drain Aerick of his blood in an instant. I succumbed to their paralytic poison and was unable to do anything but fear for my life but my allies were able to slay the beasts and I eventually recovered my faculties.

We built a pyre to burn Aerick's body, taking what personal posessions he had into our safekeeping for his family.

30 Teayu
As we climb into the mountains, we are waylaid by wolves but are able to fend them off without incident.

30 Teayu (Continued)
We found a cave with chittering and took a moment to prepare. I cast Monstrous Mantle on my allies, giving us additional fortitude against our foes. Bob charged forward to draw their ire and we were able to eliminate them one by one. The Dwarf's notes indicate they are something called "Bonecracker Scorpions" and only their newborn status left them weak enough for us to kill. The rotting corpse of the Dwarf and of their mother indicate a truly savage nature to them.

The Chronicled Narratives of Dainwennan Niebo, Hero Extraordinaire

It was an exhilarating start to my new life of adventure! An Obsid businessman called Avalandohamagannahnieventhallailmar has begun looking for Adepts to assist his business, Giant Spider People, with the extermination of spiders and spider like creatures. I joined up with a party of fellow Adventure seekers to take up the challenge offered and we set out from Throal on the trail of a foolish Beastmaster who thought he could tame some arachnids he got if he raised them from eggs.

Traveling through the wilderness was difficult, but could not best most of our party. Sadly, an encounter with some Blood Bees cost the young Aerick, an Elf traveling with me, his life. But neither bees nor wolves nor harpies could stay us from our course, and we made our way to a cavern which had become the lair of the Beastmaster and his pets.

His pets being scorpions of a species I had not encountered before. They were clearly still immature, but already the size of the guard dogs our harissa-tis use. This worries me a bit, as such large predators could become a blight on the countryside very quickly if introduced. We slew the beasts, which does sadden me a bit, but it was necessary that they not be allowed to live and breed a new generation.

Afterward, we found the journal of the Beastmaster, along with his body. He was clearly taken by illusions of grandeur and had lost his reason, which led to losing his life, a fitting end. We took his few personal possessions and burned his body to prevent any untoward consequences, then we returned victorious to Throal.

The wolves we encountered were harassing a huttawa, which we managed to save. I was able to treat her injuries and bring her back with me to Throal. She already seems quite attached to me, and we are bonding quite wonderfully.
