Lord Marcus Aurulies Sters stands at ease leaning on his sturdy cane speaking with a military officer, “I respect that you do not think it wise to have a Cartographer with your unit, but my Lodge has a wide array of skills that would be of use.” Lord Sters touches the officer gently on the arm, like one would an old friend, “At the very least take Messer Lockgrip. He is an experienced explorer, can help you get further each day, and is handy in a fight.” Threads weave themselves around the Officer as he began to nod along with the old Commander.

“Yes, I can see how those attributes would be useful. Please, do dispatch Messer Lockgrip to Fort Alice for the expedition! We’ll take care of equipping him” he smiles contently as he signs the contract for hiring the troll as a guide and map maker in the Gruv.

After the others left, a young girl steps up and looked quizzically at Lord Sters, “Mi Lord, it is not my place to pry but I must know what happened with the officer…”

Lord Sters eyes her oddly, “Whatever do you mean Miss Withakay? Are you suggesting something foul?”

Taken aback she stammers out, “N...nn...no MiLord….it...it is just….well I thought I had seen threads weave over him when you touched him….” She finished hanging her head.

Lord Sters sighs heavily “Childe, that is a thing to not be talked of if you saw anything to begin with. You are certainly too inquisitive for your own good, and will be the death of me I am sure.”

I like the random-flashback approach here. Piece by piece, we get to know this person.

Thank you. Doing it in part to describe people in the Lodge, but I do enjoy giving back story to my character.

In the last session Andi said influence person was a spell that I had seen. The one most likely to have it would be the head of the Lodge, but being an old military officer he doesn't want it known that it can be done, because old fashioned manipulation is bad enough. Magical manipulation, well that could destroy them.

Lady Luna Mond looks incredulously at the drunken troll that ordered her to bring him another quart, “Do you know who I am?”

The troll laughs crassly “Ya look like a Tavern Wench ta me, so do yar job!”

She takes a step forward, tipping her head back slightly, and in a matter of fact tone states “You are speaking to the 16th generational granddaughter of the union of Merlin and Morgan LaFey. If you apologize properly, I just might grant you mercy.”

The troll stands up laughing uproariously, “Aye, ya got a bit of spunk to ya Wench. But if tellin’ tales is what we are doin’, I be the Queen o’ England!” His friends were laughing along with him when a flash of light burst in the trolls face and the troll crashes to the floor through the table.

She glares haughtily around the tavern, “Anyone else then? Good.” She turns her attention to the young girl that was flirting in the corner, “Miss Withakay, you are late to my class with you. I trust we will not have this issue again.”

As a side note, neither Morgan le Fay nor Merlin has been confirmed to have actually existed in the game world. Although it wouldn't be out of line for Alachia to have been Morgan, and some other immortal elf Merlin, we're trying to keep down the immortal elves storyline. It kind of took over Shadowrun, and we've got other fish to fry.

I was going more "eccentric noble family believes they can trace their lineage to legendary figures that may not have existed". Also, their own OTP because nothing links those two having a relationship let alone children in the lore.

Erica sprawls out in an overstuffed chair, her head over one arm, one leg over the back and the other curled up under her in the seat, "What was it like?" Her voice wistful as she gazes at a tall slender bronze elf with emerald eyes.

The other elf pointedly ignores her, pouring over an atlas.

Erica rolls out of the chair and props her chin up on her hands from the floor, "Pleeeease Jane?" whining a little. "I must live vicariously through you since they will not let me go on a real expedition!"

"It is Miss Strong to you child, and no amount of pleading will make me relive that fiasco in Egypt," a slight shiver running down her spine at the word.

The extent of that fiasco is tbd, but I am sure with mummies being established as mean they might be a part

Oh very much so. Bear in mind we haven't actually done animated mummies as part of the canonical game world, but then we haven't done a huge amount with magical threats on Earth yet. The GM Companion (forthcoming) actually has the first folkloric creatures for Earth. We're starting out with those in England, since that's where the Rabbit Hole opened, and delving into Cornish legend for some really weird stuff that's not been overused (hopefully). Animated mummies are going to show up in the official materials, they're part of the milieu, we just don't have official stats for them yet. There's also the holdover from Earthdawn, where Creana, the nation that existed where Egypt is now, was actively hostile to dragons, for some never really explained reason... apparently there's a legend that if a dragon ever sets foot on Creanan sand, something Truly Awful will get unleashed. As bad as Creana is, the expectation is that the TA thing is a world ender. In my Earthdawn campaign, Alachia leveraged this by importing a couple of tons of desert sand from Creana and covering the floor of her vault with it.
