Have rules for airships and airship combat ever been published for 4E? There was a post from "Telarus" who claimed they had submitted materials for a Companion back in 2017, but I can't find any reference to a book with them.

Re: 4E Air Ship Rules
nothing official. there is a lot of stuff that didn't make it into various books due to not having enough room in those books, it is possible that those rules for airships were part of that material, I wouldn't know.
that said, 4e is not wildly different in terms of basic mechanics, so if you have airship rules for another edition you could probably just use those with only minor modifications.

Re: 4E Air Ship Rules
So...a game named after an air ship with two air ship-centric disciplines doesn't have rules for airships after 5+ rules-focused books.
Am I the only person who sees the "fail" in this?

They were supposed to be in the Companion but took up too much space and were pushed back.
Until anything official comes out, this will probably do:

Please do not advocate and share that link. It's uses work from people who do not consent to that release (including myself) and reproduces copyrighted material without permission.

doesn't seem like that much of a failure to me. airships may be highly thematic, but in terms of actual rules they aren't that important. the game is not about having airship battles.Kigmatzomat wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 1:20 pmSo...a game named after an air ship with two air ship-centric disciplines doesn't have rules for airships after 5+ rules-focused books.

4e has been focused on doing stuff that hasn't been done before. and as I already said, it really isn't so wildly different that you couldn't just use the rules for airships from whatever edition you prefer if it actually comes up, which for most people it usually won't. the average group just needs to know about how fast an airship can travel, pretty much.

Re: 4E Air Ship Rules
Your games may not but all 3 ED gms I know use them.
I have been waiting on ship rules since I backed the original 4e kickstarter.
If I am using the old rule books, not sure why I just don't play those rules.
Color me disappointed.

Re: 4E Air Ship Rules
I mean, my GMs use airships. but the group doesn't own one or anything; we don't need detailed rules for the size of their cargo holds, their weight capacity, the damage their cannons do, etc, because any use of those so far has been essentially narrative.

Re: 4E Air Ship Rules
Sky raiders can build & repair drakkars and other small airships as half magic. (ED4 p.104). There is no reason you couldn't own an air-canoe.
This should be as readily usable as a Weaponsmith crafting or repairing weapons.
