Companion Masks Errata

Post by gortatrien » Tue Oct 30, 2018 12:46 am

As I'm slowly making my way through the companion, I have some questions about Masks:

Skeletal
Shouldn't all of the skeletal masks (bony, petrified) have immune to fear instead of just two (gaunt, ossified)?

Unconsciousness vs Death Ratings
Were some of the masks specifically designed to close the gap between unconsciousness and death ratings? Shouldn't the gap get larger or at least stay the same even on masks that reduce the toughness of the creatures?
All Astral Masks except Awakened
All Elemental Aspected Air except Air Attuned
All Elemental Aspected Fire except Fire Attuned
All Elemental Aspected Storm except Storm Attuned
All Elemental Aspected Water except Water Attuned
All Fast except Fleet
All Spell Draining except minor
All Stealthy except cloaked

Finally, shouldn't undead in general have no unconsciousness rating? I know the ghoul does in the GMG, but it seems a little weird.

Skeletal: If you want them to be immune to fear, go for it. Otherwise, no, they are correct as listed. As a fan of Army of Darkness, some skeletons clearly know fear.

All Death and Unconsciousness Rating modifications are correct and based on changes to attributes and Circles. The difference contracts in exactly the same fashion as it gets wider for creatures. There is never an instance where the Death Rating is lower than the Unconsciousness Rating.

Masks are designed to be relatively generic without assuming the creature they are applied to automatically won't have an Unconsciousness Rating, or even be used for the "intended" purpose of the mask. Which means removing the Unconsciousness Rating creates more work if adapting the mask for another purpose. This leaves the choice up to the end user on how exactly to apply the mask with as much flexibility as possible.

Okay, thanks for the explanations.
