Re: Compute Hit Points
I totally agree, but the trope of "casters don't use shields" is strong.

Re: Compute Hit Points
Why spellcaster with all his possibilities should be almost as hard to kill as war specialist? As "Warrior" I would be really unhappy, Hit Points Bag is my role. That's not balancing, its simply making spellcasters harder to kill. Let me offer a different perspective. ED Health Ratings are a bit of...

Re: Compute Hit Points
Other than Animal Companion Durability, durability change only occurs in two tiny places, based on a quick search of the PHB for "Durability." One is the single paragraph in Multi-Disciplining, and that is specific to handling conflicting Durability Ratings, no problems there. The other is a single ...

Re: Wood Skin
1) Really, I'd recommend against trying to parse words too carefully, it rarely turns out productive. Unless I've missed it somewhere, the system makes no distinction about how something ends, just that it ends. Expired duration ends an effect just like Dispel ends an effect. That should come into p...

Re: Pattern Items and True Patterns?
Glad I mostly made sense. The comment about the major item can be thrown away for the purpose of this thread. It just goes to the book comment about how "major items are almost always made." Teasing that topic further here would detract from the actual content - which would be a shame now if we fina...

Re: Pattern Items and True Patterns?
Awesome. Many/most "True Patterns" you're going to come across have a physical analog. So, 99+% of the time, you aren't trying to, say, protect the True Pattern Jaracove, you're trying to protect the physical entity Jaracove. If I wanna protect Jaracove, I can: - Do entirely mundane things. Hide you...

Re: Pattern Items and True Patterns?
My follow on question would be "why are you researching a True Pattern?" I see one of two things: (1) you want some kind of power to aide or harm the True Pattern, or (2) you have a Pattern Item and want to use it. As far as I'm concerned, 2 can occur without 1, but 1 naturally leads to 2. If you wa...

Re: Pattern Items and True Patterns?
I think I've lost sight of what you are trying to do since you're talking about two very related but separate things. Are you asking about (a) weaving threads to Thread Items, or (b) weaving threads to non Thread Items? Both technically have True Patterns, both involve the whole Key Knowledge stuff,...

Re: Collective Issues with the Earthdawn 4e Game System/Engine
I just realized this may be a hold-over piece of language from prior editions that didn't get updated well. "Charisma tests" was what became "Interaction tests," IIRC. So, it wouldn't be intended to improve Talents that use Charisma as their base attribute, it's just be focused on the Interaction sk...
