Re: IRL Crystal Weapons...Seriously
Hmm, a planet with mana levels in that much flux area to area seems like it has a lot of potential. NEAT.

Re: Invae, where to look?
Great references! I have recently considered the Invae as a way to play classic modules like A1: Slave Pits of the Undercity, which features a secret cult of ant-men running a screen of orc slavers. I've been thinking about using that as the next Greyhawk->Earthdawn conversion I run (most likey afte...

Re: High Circle Preview: Air Sailor
Traditionally in Earthdawn (and I am retaining this in my re-design) larger ships have higher Speed Steps, smaller ships have higher Maneuverability steps. This is due to an age-of-sail idea that larger vessels can simply ignore most wave-action and beat downwind or tack against it without the chopp...

Re: Illusionist Fog of Jeer spell - some questions
There is a category of "illusions that can simply be dismissed as such" - the rules refer to these as Figments. Spells that do not mention this are NOT figments. In fact, the sensing rules state that once an illusion is sensed, it becomes a figment for that person . At this point, I'm of the opinion...

Re: Combining Efforts - rules?
My 1-minute turn mass combat rules are currently based around the idea that a leader can add their Unit Size to their Attack Result (Missile/Melee/Unarmed step, just not rolled), and that each success scored activates a squad in the unit for damage. Squads add their "Squad Step" (Challenge Rating, +...

Re: A Primer on Damage Output for Magicians
The effect is (therefore physical armor applies), but you usually don't target Physical Defense with spellcasting (I could find a single one, but I may have missed it). Additional successes are based on Mystic Defense, which can be good or bad depending on what you are facing - but for the most part...

Re: Iopos plot
The commentary from the 1e Dragons book (released as a free PDF) has some of the Dragon-level politics between Iopos and the rest of Barsaive. That was a very good addition to the setting but didn't really get the exposure it deserved.

Re: Maggot Mask - Horror Construct
I once ran an adventure that took the players deep into the upper Throal Mountains to save a community whose water sources (and all those around it for 3 valleys) had been fouled, leading to illness, etc. They fought corrupt bog gobs that dropped corroded gear fragments, and that traced that back to...

Re: Extra targets through spell threads
In my interpretation, the caster must be sure of the location of the target relative to their own at the time of casting. I'd allow targets outside the caster's field of view to be "valid targets" if they are touching the caster. That's up to 3 characters in the blindeside arc.
