The shields biggest advantage is increased defense. So why not - during intentions phase, you just say if shield is used to bash or make an attack you lose the defense for that round. If the only problem identified thus far is "the once per turn limit does not apply to Damage Replacement Talents," I'd say just add that as errata to the "Talent Test" paragraph (p. 120). If EVERYTHING needs a review, tho, I guess no short cut.

It can be said with 100% certainty that Shield Bash does not offer an extra attack. Mataxes notes earlier in the thread that an available Melee Attack must be used. Yep, my bad! I skimmed the text, was treating the Effect test as being set at casting (like Icy Surface), but it's clearly done whenever an Undead creature attempts to pass the barrier. Sorry for the confusion!
