Re: Initiative talk
I'm in some games that, to speed things up, everyone just makes one Initiative roll at the beginning of combat, and that's their Initiative for the whole battle. This drives me crazy, and I'm afraid the suggestion of everyone just taking Step is... slightly better, since you still roll for NPCs, but...

Re: Awareness vs Perception
I agree. Also, as a Talent, while it is a Simple Action, it's still an Action, meaning it's an active use. So when there's an ambush in the works and the GM calls for Perception checks from everybody, Awareness doesn't apply. You're just riding down the road, not "trying to spot someone or something...

Re: When can the use of an Absorb Blow charm be declared?
Huh. It was always my impression that you activated it, like, any time, whereupon they essentially add 12 to your health until it's used up. Re: Illusionist spells
Well, one immediate thought that comes to mind is to take fish out. And anything else that doesn't have a commonly accepted sound to finish off that end of the spell with. If someone said to me, "And the fish says..." I would say, "Um? I have no idea. What does the fish say?" And Ylvis would have a ...

Re: Maximum Talent Rank
I've seen it come up when the group is off adventuring, but, for one reason or another, isn't finding the time or money to advance their Circles. Sometimes it's good that they can keep increasing their Talents anyway, and then, when they do have time and funds, they can advance quickly. Or so...

Journeyman Skills...
Just a quick question - I had it firmly in my head that starting characters can't pick Journeyman-level Skills in 4e, but I cannot find *anywhere* in the rules that actually says that. The only difference I'm finding in the rules between Novice and Journeyman Skills is the advancement costs, which, ...
