I would second this.More details about using a hex map, and facing. "Sticky" combat to prevent people from just running around enemies freely.

Re: One spell to end all healing
What are the options for learning Alchemy (or any skill that doesn't have a corresponding talent) as a talent? I think I must have missed the rules for that...Someone in your group should learn Alchemy (as a Talent preferably) so you can start making your own healing potions.
Thanks!

Praise for 4th edition Earthdawn
So, since the one thread I've started turned into me complaining, I wanted to take a moment to express some positive thoughts. I've just recently run my first couple of sessions with 4th edition and I have to say that both my players and I were very pleasantly surprised. All the things I expected to...

Re: Strength and armor based initiative penalties
Yeah that makes sense. Though again it does mean that something like Min. Str. 12 for a sword is pretty ridiculous, since an average strength person should be able to wield a sword just fine. That's honestly a problem with strength minimums in most games. Since player characters will tend to have a...

Re: Strength and armor based initiative penalties
I prefer not to make system modifications either (unless there's an egregious problem) which is how this got started for me. I know that some (maybe a lot?) of stuff got dropped in 4th due to space requirements and I was wondering if this, mostly trivial, optional rule fell in that category. The mor...

Re: Strength and armor based initiative penalties
If anything, I'd say that Charisma is still more of a dump stat than Strength, even in Earthdawn. Interesting. In my games I'd say we see more social interaction than combat and that even in combat taunt and similar talents frequently play a very large part in deciding the outcome. Now that may be ...

Re: Strength and armor based initiative penalties
You all definitely have some good points and I would not be unhappy to play in a game using the rules as written, but I'm still not sure I'm convinced. Ever had to handle something that is very light but very big? I'm pretty much sure we've all had this experience. Re-positioning a plastic clothes h...

Re: Strength and armor based initiative penalties
Technically yes, but they did that by throwing out the absurdly easy ones. It looks like they are both less frequent and measurably easier to resist now: 3rd edition - A character can be Knocked Down if he suffers a number of Damage Points equal to or greater than his Wound Threshold in a single at...

Re: Strength and armor based initiative penalties
You're right, I wan't thinking about knockdown tests when I wrote this and they are relevant, but those have become substantially less common in 4th edition too if I remember the rules correctly (and you use DEX to jump up). (Note: all my experience in play is with 3rd edition - and that from a few ...
