1) The number of additional threads a spellcaster can weave is based on the Circle of the spellcaster, not the spell. I obviously rolled a 1 on my read-or-write-the-rules test. The thing about throwing weapons is that they're flung, not launched. So I'll guess I'd go: Missiles: As long as the bow/crossbow string is fully distended = in range (for a bow that would mean about the length of the arrow, for a crossbow maybe actual point black since bolts are usually very short...

That's true, but the minimum distance reflects the difficulty of drawing a bead on someone who is close enough to reach out and push the bow to the side. Despite the same distance, the same 'someone' does not get 'to reach and push the weapon away' in melee combat, that would be parry/disarm/whatev...
