I would suggest to use a called shot for functional purposes.
Cutting the rope they use to hang your friend for example.

Re: Question about ED2 Talents wood skin and others
Not broken. Let's not forget that there is a 'middle ground' between 'alive' and 'dead' and that's the unconscious rating. Wood Skin also increase the unconscious rating thus you would remain conscious 'longer' with the Wood Skin talent. Yes, if the total goes over the (real) death rating then this...

Re: Question about ED2 Talents wood skin and others
Regarding Wood Skin; Your interpretation of the damage remaining and a character potentially dying when wood skin expires is a very tough one. It does however close a bit the gap felt regarding 'fighting value' between a Sky raider and a Warrior. What worries me about it, are the elven and windling ...

Question about ED2 Talents wood skin and others
Hello! Is the way ED4 interprets Wood Skin, with the explicit wording that the damage is taken away with the end of the duration also the way it should be read in ED2? As it is adding to your damage threshold for a certain duration, I presume one can regenerate into the increased wood skin based hea...

Re: Air Dance worth it?
Thx all for your wisdom! RAW in 2. Edition is clearly on my side as attack is a term clearly defined in the combat section p.217ff with spellcasting and missile weapons explicitly named. RAW in ED classic (red bricks “better 2.edition”) Clearly states close combat, as does 4th edition. So I agree it...

Re: Air Dance worth it?
To clarify: to get the extra attack with Air Dance with three successes, not three extra successes (for a total of four). For a more concrete example, it your target scored a 7 on their Initiative, here's the breakdown: Air Dance result less than 7: No successes. Air Dance result of 7-11: One succe...

Re: Need help with a journeyman pattern item
I had missed the 'height-to-rank' part of the talent which is 'conveniently' set at the very end of the talent's description, while the beginning of it instead states 'with a success, he lands safely and takes no damage'. Although I can understand that one might feel the need to 'scale' the talent ...

I would grant him a little edge in hunting, wood related work and guessing distances.

Re: Optional Circle Advancement Rules
Although I like the optional rule, the cost structure should not be not touched. Hence you have 2 slots per circle and you can fill it with your current or lower options. The cost is however determined by the circle in which you choose the talent. So you master talent option can be fillled with mele...
