Re: Cracking Bank Hall - Character Journals [Spoilers]

I have edited the last three paragraphs of my prior post to include the story that the police were told. Yes, future storytelling Cusa would know more than I know now, that is why I try so hard to mostly tell what he was thinking at the time and not skip ahead to much except for where it is a pretty...

Re: Making Characters

I think I might be under some confusion as what is sometimes meant by the word "Free". Whether it means that the character "gets a Free skill rank", "uses a Free skill rank", gets or uses a "Free skill slot", or a "usage of a Free skill slot without it counting as a Free skill slot being used", or s...

Re: Cracking Bank Hall - Character Journals [Spoilers]

The ensuing fight was both brutal and confusing. The room was dark and full of statuary. We were libel to loose sight of any opponent or friend that was more than a few arms lengths away. Worst of all, we did not know for sure whom was on whose side. We had entered the room thinking that Mssr Niece ...

Re: Starting Skills

So now that there is an Errata, did this get forgotten, or has thinking on this changed in the nearly 2 years since this answer was posted? This is from the 2nd post in this very old thread. You start with eight Core/Optional Skill slots, not six, but must take a minimum of six Core/Optional Skills,...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk

First off I want to apologize if my attitude has sometimes been snarky. I don't wish you to feel attacked. But I do often feel that your arguments miss the point a lot. Moreover I did a bit of research in our world, and there are animals that do not take to domestication at all (not to mention train...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk

One more post, because I want to expand and refine one point. i would also make the argument on the basis that it's pretty lame if the only way for a cavalryman to ever get a griffin is to buy one, with no real chance of taming it themselves, when they can tame basically every other suitable mount i...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk

I expect this will probably be the last post I will bother doing in this thread, since I think we have reached the point of just reiterating already stated positions, and real points are being ignored in favor of erecting straw men to knock down. But I will try to sum it up my points one last time. ...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk

I think you are starting to reach pretty far here. Yes, I imagine griffin riding might be like bull riding. To the best of my knowledge (I am no expert) nobody trains bulls as riding mounts. But people can stay on one for a number of seconds and it is a test of skill and badge of honor that people w...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk

I think our difference is philosophical. You are focusing on what the Talents can do. I am focusing on what the Creatures will and will not put up with. I fully agree that the magical Talent of Animal Training could teach an adult griffin how to serve as a mount, if, but only if the griffin will put...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk

Yes, I have always played it that trained animals (mounts, guard animals, etc) that are trained young retain their standard training for life and don't need to be sent back for retraining every few months. that said, i'd still be disinclined to restrict use as a mount from an adept. they don't obey ...
