Re: Chaos Hounds, Travar

spell backlash being lower than mystic defence makes sense (and matches the other example of the ability i looked up). if you fail by a little, you just fail. if you fail by more, it gets reflected.

if it were higher, then practically speaking it would replace mystic defence, which would seem odd...

Re: Questions for Mystic Paths

a) one of the talents (rite of ka'tosh i think? rite of something anyways) gives you honor points. in addition to their other uses provided by talents or knacks, they can be used as karma in certain situations as well. b) perhaps in a game mechanic sense, i'm not 100% certain, but broadly speaking y...

Re: maintaining "sense horrorspawn" talent

Greetings, It is extended for the same duration as the talent. Just reducing the number of rolls. well, i would say it does rather more than reducing the number of rolls, considering it allows you to keep the benefit of potentially spending multiple points of karma (and possibly other things that i...

maintaining "sense horrorspawn" talent

Just wondering, the talent gives the option to maintain it for longer by taking strain damage. how much longer? is it the same duration as the initial use (ie rank rounds) or is it something like 1 additional round?

Turning into a mosquito would be very useful for spying and infiltration purposes.
i generally don't recommend turning into something that people will kill just because it's there :P

Re: Nethermancer Karma ability vs. Astral Strain Knack.

spirit grip does damage and inflicts penalties to both physical and magic defense, which means everyone in your party can use it. no threads either. the usual disadvantage is that it's short range, but seeing as how you're in melee anyways... It also does low damage and does not get damage bonus fr...

Re: Nethermancer Karma ability vs. Astral Strain Knack.

i would say your guess that it won't work is correct. astral strain is not a spell, therefore you can't increase the penalty.

on the plus side, you do have other options for inflicting penalties to a target's mystic defense that you can then increase with that ability.

Re: Wyvern: Animal?

you have to read between the lines of one of the older books (it's about dragons, it was free at one point i believe - not sure if it is now). it is heavily implied that a great dragon who is being interviewed is *saying* they aren't a stage of a dragon's life... but is totally lying. he describes a...

Re: Optional Strain Rule

i tend to view strain as something you take because you hope that it will prevent further damage. that is, you're using avoid blow and taking some strain in the hope that it will protect you from the damage that would be caused by not avoiding the blow. you're using second attack in hopes of killing...
