Re: Creature [spoiler for upcoming game]

Will dead rats be preferably eaten by their brethren? I wonder whether it would be easier to define packs of rats that loose an attack if you wound (kill an individual) them. No wound no damage, as you never hit the same rat twice. (Swarm effect) It would maybe save a bit of book keeping with initia...

Re: 4th edition obsidian and blood magic

So I conclude that the network effect is there and people are vulnerable via a link that makes them more powerful. I further still see that a group sticking together is adding a bonus to the individual’s sanity. Combined it means that a group is more attractive as target but more difficult to penetr...

Re: 4th edition obsidian and blood magic

Anyway, the condition for a group pattern is always that the characters blindly trust each other. So if one clarifies ingame in advance that the group will stand by the Obsidian in case of a threat to the liferock, or at least not in the way of the Obsidian, there should be no objections. If a horr...

Re: Shield Bash - searching for the advantage

I found it myself

Shield Bash does damage AND enforces a knockdown test. Attack to Knockdown sacrifices damage.

Shield Bash - searching for the advantage

Hi Folks,

I read the shield bash description and understood it the way that the shield bash test replaces the damage test for knockdown purposes.

Where is the advantage over an attack to knockdown combat option?

I must have gotten something wrong or missed out on a detail.

Re: Balancing Forge Armor/Weapon

I would propose to be able to increase the shattering threshold. That IS related to stability and not as game breaking as another +Rank on physical defense. A friend of mine proposed to be able to reduce armor penalties as Weaponsmith. I like the idea of making an armor lighter instead of tougher. H...

Re: Balancing Forge Armor/Weapon

Ah, what about shields? Is there anything a weaponsmith can do to pimp his shield?

Re: Balancing Forge Armor/Weapon

Question from a player: Can you wear fernweave above an blood pebble? I said yes in previous editions because you could always get armor penetrating hits and it has not been too strong. Nowadays it is pretty tough when a 7th circle weaponsmith upgrades both items to +6 and that character has two dig...

Re: Teamwork Tests, Dagger Talent

I wrote down a train of thought but it derailed when I thought about it again... Static bonus makes very difficult things to quickly mundane and does not make easy tasks failure proof. Individual tests and taking the best roll (considering the failures) raises the question how the characters know wh...

Re: Teamwork Tests, Dagger Talent

I like the close-in more than blade juggle. Just the bookkeeping of blade juggle with all these numbers is already a no-go. Regarding the teamwork, I can see good aspects in both proposals. I guess one would have to do the math in order to see how an journeyman adept (step 14) is augmented by 5 novi...
