Re: Old fashioned forum folk, sound off -
I'm Nick Lowe or Nick Lowe va-Vasgoth as I was known on the discord. I recently quit all social media, including most discord channels, but I do enjoy the forum format. Been playing Earthdawn since first edition.

Re: Thera's flag?
Well I'm just speculating to be honest, its meaning is pure guess work on my part. The silver coins in Vivane depict an engraving of the city's river gates on one side, so it may be that that is the image used for the city? As for Vivane being insignificant, I guess that's subjective. I don't think ...

Re: Thera's flag?
The top one yeah. The bottom image appears to be Kypros' personal seal as it's placed next to his name.

Re: Thera's flag?
On the back of Book One: Barsaivian Vivane from the Skypoint boxed set there is what appears to be an image of a sunburst. Whether this is the same as the one mentioned on the florin is unknown. Hope that helps :) Edit: You can also find a clearer version of the sunburst design on the handouts that ...

Re: Thera's flag?
I'm not sure about a flag, but in Sky Point & Vivane it mentions that the Imperial florin has the "Theran sunburst" design on one of its sides. I'm not aware of anywhere else that this design has been mentioned, but that's not to say that it isn't.

Re: Theran Empire in South Africa, America and Australia
Hi, I can't find back my sources but I was under impression that Thera had colonies in thoses areas back in Earthdawn time. Or is it later they emigrate there after Thera sunk ? As far as I'm aware there is no reference to Australia in Earthdawn. The other two places, Aznan and Araucania have a bri...

Re: Creating an Earthdawn Campaign set in an Eastern setting.
Also, having a look Chōchinmochi 提灯持ち simply means having a lantern or bringing a lantern. I feel like another word needs adding there possibly Chōchinmochisha 提灯持ち者 but even that seems clumsy and literally translates as a 'person with a lantern'. A big part of translation is context as well as cont...

Re: Creating an Earthdawn Campaign set in an Eastern setting.
I would say these are all Japanese terms rather than 'oriental' with the odd one out being Wu Jen which sounds Chinese to me. If you're keeping with a Japanese theme then you may want to consider changing this to something like 魔術師 (Majutsushi) or 魔法使い (Mahōtsukai) both of which mean something along...

Re: How much of the world is known?
I'll say that as far as heavy criticism goes, in my experience almost all of that is directed at Talea and Cathay, and even then I believe that Cathay still has its share of fans. As for the known world, there is Aznan and Aruacania which are two distant lands mentioned in Vivane & Skypoint correspo...
