Re: Group Patterns
Also a good concept. My group liked however to have their own pattern identity. I think the old addage: “the dose makes the poison” is valid here. Having group threads in a correct dosing makes the game better. Totally agree with that. Group patterns do make the game better, and should exist. Im su...

Re: Group Patterns
I totally agree with you that the group pattern is LP wise is too cheap for what it offers. So far I limited it a bit by requesting deeds that quickly scaled up to advance into higher thread ranks or open up a new one. That is an alternative to rigid circle based rules. Alternative is to increase t...

Group Patterns
Was reading the thread on spell matrices where someone said group patterns can eat up 5 ranks of threadweaving, which is true and brought up a personal bug bear of mine with group patterns. Our group has decided to alter them feeling its a mechanic that really makes the system creak (our groups been...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk
Erm, I like to see a spirited discussion, but this seemed to get way to personal for a debate about a (frankly) fuzzy rule system that every table is going to house rule or interpret differently anyway. Exactly. Everyones going to houserule or interpret them differently... there is no set right or ...

Re: Animal Trainnig vs Animal Talk
As a gm.
Animal talk is a non skill possible, 6th circle beastmaster talent...a 6th circle beastmaster in my group, with a well established companion would not need to use animal training to teach it how to do things unless they were very specific and complicated.

Re: Nethermancer Referendum: Gazing Long into an Abyss
To that end, you can think all Nethermancers are evil and you aren't alone in the setting. However, you are objectively wrong. They have spells which tread a thin line, but not every Nethermancer uses every tool at their disposal. Indeed, access to Frighten and the associated spells can end a confl...

Re: Spell recommendations Nethermancer 4th circle
I think that Calamrin's point is that how you are killed might not make any difference to you, but it might make a difference to the spirit or the tiger. Alright, probably not the tiger, but it might make a difference to the spirit to be enslaved and forced to kill you. It might ruin it's entire da...

Re: Spell recommendations Nethermancer 4th circle
lol you do make a good case from a nethermancers point of view...im just making it from a non nethermancers view....well not even a non nethermancers view, just someone reading the class in the book. Both sides are allowed an opinion. I can only go with whats written and in the 4th edition book, and...

Re: Spell recommendations Nethermancer 4th circle
The first two paragraphs where a nethermancer speaks about his discipline in the ED3 companion: To be fair thats from 3rd edition, and im refering to 4th. Even reading that: Death itself is not evil. Nethermancers use evil powers and spells learnt from the evil horrors they so good at fighting. The...
